Sat Nav
Bought a Sat Nav package for my S Type (yes I know) - a grand and had to install it to find out it does'nt work - fires up and says no map cd or whatever - problem compounded buying different discs - any whizz geeks out there can fix this - it's pretty low if this is a con - all parts were boxed in sealed plastic wrappers and all parts are stamped Jaguar. Checked the numbers and its Japanese so might work in down town Tokyo but not in sunny Glasgow. I got this yonks ago but just happened on this site and wondered if there is a solution to this.
Any help would be welcome apart from Ha Ha Ha - thanks - Malcolm

Thanks for that - it's more than the dealer told me - have tried the discs - I've bought at least 4 - dealer thinks the unit does not work - is there anywhere else that is capable of programming the vehicle or is there instructions anywhere - if the dealer can't fix it I'm at a loss.
Really appreciate the advice -
Thanks again

the nav screen, push and hold the phone and menu bttons for 5 seconds until pin screen comes on. Type 917 and enter. What do you see for satellite strength etc.
The nav module needs programmed as does the audio unit/touchscreen. Dealer only I am afraid.
Also on the diagnostic green what does it say for s/w version?

Thanks for your continued support - No phone and menu button - it's the type that fits in where the square phone used to hide ora storage box- under the screen there are two rows of buttons - top row i F1 F2 F3 F4 then under that Off - + Map Enter with a square nav key to the right of the main keys - that's it - I could try and post a photograph if this description is inadequate. Tried to post a photograph of the car right enough and it said there was too much information and abandoned it. When installed initially the screen came up in Japanese but flashed through the screens so fast it was difficult to tell. After that somebody I knew got the unit to present in English but no dice with any of the discs.
Hope this description helps with the suggestions.
I soooo appreciate this help.

RE: Sat Nav
No worries - it says insert a map CD or no disk or contact the dealer (I've done this by the way but they obviously didn't know what they were doing - ums and ahs) it displays these messages even when I put a disk in it - the disks I've got all have jag logo on them and are for Europe etc - a couple were reasonable and one was more expensive - supposed to be the real thing - I quickly lost heart. I can look them out and provide more detail. I assumed wrongly at the time that It was just the disk and just had to get the right one and it would fire into life but there is obviously something else that is required.
It's a 99 V8 tints and high spec so thought it was worth going the whole hog and get everything - I've spent a lot on all sorts and had it Jag maintained but this one I can't figure.
At one stage in the set up the screen has four options with cancel the last one - when that one is pressed it goes back to insert a map CD and no disc or contact dealer.
Really appreciate your help here folks

RE: Sat Nav
Thanks again for the brain picking - it was Hannay Auto Electrics that fitted it and it was signed off by them - the harness and connectors are prewired in the boot and behind the dash and they were simply plugged into the respective slots.
As far as I can ascertain it's wired correctly
