The disc being for Japanese market is irrelavent. Get a disc for your area and you probably need dealer to programme your vehicle to say it has nav.

the nav screen, push and hold the phone and menu bttons for 5 seconds until pin screen comes on. Type 917 and enter. What do you see for satellite strength etc.
The nav module needs programmed as does the audio unit/touchscreen. Dealer only I am afraid.
Also on the diagnostic green what does it say for s/w version?

lol.....thats what I get for not asking what year your S-Type was. I assume it is 2000-2002 version.

What does the screen say now when it is on?

What discs are you putting in there?

It is possible one of the connectors is either not plugged in or missing. Ie harness from reader to screen? Double check there are no empty holes on either unit.
I will look more into this later. I have to stop and do some research.
