Scratches on driver side door glass?

Default Scratches on driver side door glass?
03 stype developing some serious scratches on the drivers door glass. i have no squeaks, rattles or other symptoms when the glass moves up and down, any ideas on this one??

Not much can scratch glass so maybe some hard part trapped inside. A guess would be glass shards from a previously broken window. You'll likely have to remove door card etc to see and clear out the cause.
