Default Seat Belt Chime Issue 2003 S-Type R

I was coming home and the seat belt chime started. Now it will not go off. It sounds initially and then periodically as I drive. I do wear my seat belt constantly. I race my cobras and with all the safety equipment on board. No cage in the Jag as it is the grocery getter. I have even buckled the passenger belt with and without a passenger. What's up. Faulty relay, sensor, tooth fairy? I could use some help the chime is annoying me. I usually fix my cars myself so help is appreciated.

I have a DIY on the procedure that makes that chime not sound.. I've already done it on mine and it was very easy.. Idk what exactly your saying is wrong with yours, but if you can get it to recognize that the seat belt is buckled I can give you the steps to turn it off.. No wire cutting or BS, its a procedure ford builds into some of their cars.. Eric

(I really want to see some pictures of your mustangs... especially the Boss.)

I have tried the buckle unbuckle approach with the engine on; with it off but in the run position. It did not work. Unless there is another procedure or I am doing it wrong I need something else. I have tried buckling while the light was on and after it went off. It takes about 30 seconds or so for the seat belt light to go out once I turn the key. Is this normal? It always seemed the light went out quickly but then who notices. I am trying not to buy a $500.00 reader to pull the other codes. I'll try to download some pics of the cars onto photobucket and give a link.

When you turn the key to ON/RUN or when you shut the car off?

Do you have a CEL? I'm having a little trouble understanding exactly what you mean.. If you do indeed have a CEL, you don't need a $500 code reader.. any regular one that they lend out at Advanced or Discount Auto will work just fine.

But the Unbuckle & Buckle approach for disabling the seat belt chime only works if the car is in the on position, but not running.. You actually have to do it about 8 to 9 times for it to actually be effective.. You have a few Fords, so you might already know this trick?

When I turn the car to the run position, but not running, the seat belt light stays on for about 30 seconds. I then unbuckle and start the buckle unbuckle procedure. I have not been sucessful in getting the chime to stop. I do not have a check engine light illuminated and have used my code reader which pulls the usual p codes but not the B,U,C etc codes. The car has no engine codes. The $500.00 reader I looked at will read all of the codes.

I am including a link to a photobucket account I put together with a few of my car pics. http://s709.photobucket.com/albums/w...orse/?newest=1
