Seat height motor replacement...p/n?
Just getting around to fixing the seat height adjustment on my car, due to it not working/making grinding sounds when operated and wondered if anyone had a p/n for me? I've scoured ebay and lots of seat motors turn up, but not the correct one, judging by how mine looks. I contacted a Jag parts specialist here in UK, but no reply.
I have the seat off it's mountings and tilted back at the moment, but have had to duck back in due to the rain...(I'm in the UK y'know).
I pondered the idea of swapping the seatfront up/down motor with the dud seat height motor, but not sure if they are the same fitting. They look similar to me, but I am looking at them bent double at a weird angle.
Any ideas?

OK, managed to get the seat height motor disconnected ( word of warning - when you undo the three torx bolts on the end, the seat frame will collapse onto your hand if it's in the way....which mine was, ouch!)
It appears to working fine, but the worm drive under the black plastic cover filled with white grease is just spinning, it's not turning anything to make the seat move. I'm just in the process of trying to get the whole jobby out, got the seat completely flipped upside down on the back seat, that way you can get to all the underside easier.
Got a p/n, but that could well be just the motor part, not the actual adjustment mechanism, unless it all comes as a unit?
p/n is either:
brose 198397-104
or
0 130 002 532
It's a Bosch unit.
Just looked on the web, all that comes up is a bloody motor, not the mechanism.

Similar problem but back/forward travel
I have not looked at the problem yet but have downloaded a description of how to remove the seat from the car.If I take it out there will be no power so tipping it back like you describe seems a better idea. The description says disconnect the heated seats and to undo the seat belt anchor point.Did you have to do this?It also mentions removing the covers that hide the track ,did you do this and if so how do they come off?
Any guidance would be appreciated

Its really easy as it's only four bolts and a couple of plastic covers like you say.
First, keep the ignition OFF as it can cause issues when/if you disconnect the underseat wiring.
1) With the seat in the forward position, take off the plastic covers from the rear of the seat track area. They simply prise off by hand with a bit of force. If not, a wide bladed screwdriver will help.
Then remove the two bolts that are underneath the covers.
2) Next, move the seat back and remove the front two bolts. These are 'male' Torx bolts, so a suitable hex socket will remove them.
3) Remove the headrest in order to give you more room to tip the seat. You may want to put the steering wheel in the fully up and forward position too.
The seat is now free to tip back, so move it forward again to give you more room to tip it. There are two locating pins by the front two bolt fixing points to aid refitting.
You can tip it back quite a way with the wiring in place, but if you need to tip it upside down, the wiring needs to be disconnected. Keep the ignition OFF remember.
The seatbelt doesn't need to be removed unless you want to actually remove the seat from the car.
If you decide to remove or loosen the 'up/down' motor, beware....the seat frame will collapse when you do so and can catch your fingers...I found out the hard way.
Refitting is, as they say, a reversal of all the above.
It almost takes longer to explain than to do.
