Chances are it's described in detail on jag's TOPIx (Search will get you more about TOPIx).

I expect it's air added to the exhaust to reduce emissions (emissions laws get tighter and tighter and ever tighter) - but see TOPIx.

I don't think it will be in JTIS as I believe it was added after JTIS ceased.

Anytime you get a code post the exact number. There is a lot of wrong documentation out there. Plus hopefully somebody got that same code in the past and you could find it with some searching.

Secondary air is a system to warm up the catalyzers fast, helping reduce emissions from a cold engine (the over-rich air/fuel mixture and it's unburned HC) as the catalyzers work best when hot. There are two systems, a cheaper one that works at idle only, and a more expensive one with two exhaust injection points, an upper one to speed up up catalyzer heating and a lower one to help clean-up. There is an air pump that can get dirty/clogged, and it may be driven by a belt that can snap. It's an old idea from the 1960s.

I have an 06 S-Type 3.0L with a P0411 code. Anyone know where the SAI MAP sensor is located?

Is there one and is it relevant? Wondering why you think either of those / why you're asking?

Worst case, try jag's TOPIx.

I wanted to check that the system is working properly. I thought since the pump is working, the valve is working and there is no blockage that my next step was to check for correct voltage??? I found the SAI MAP sensor on the wiring diagram but can not find its location. Do you think I'm going in the wrong direction? Any suggestions?

You would have helped yourself if you'd seen fit to give full details sooner.

I'm new to this. I thought the brief, direct question was the way to go. Sorry. Lesson learned.

I never heard anyone else with this sort of problem and most cars don't have SAI - plus it's not in JTIS as I recall so don't be too hopeful anyone will know
