So as long as you are not running on the autobahn or on a track the periods between wots could be just enough to have the system cold enough again for the next wot.
Exactly. Same issue with liquid intercoolers. They have superior heat exchange characteristics but you can quickly heat the system up if you're running the car hard for longer periods. You'd need an enormous and impractical radiator system for the water to keep up.That's why they're not typically used in racing except on drag cars.

The KC sounds so effective it probably doesn't matter!
That's what the KC people say to do on their website. AC systems these days don't rob as much power as they used to. It's a trade off, but there must be some kind of logic for it.

You reckon the tuner forum people understand the details of the S-Type, its a/c and fan? I don't.

No clue. I'm just kicking around ideas.

edit... just reread the kc ad. I misread something regarding the ac switching off.

Glad that something existed already, so I have ordered one, and will play with it to see what is possible.
Hi Avos-
Did you ever actually set this up as an intercooler fan controller?

If so, how did it work out?

Not yet, just to many things going on for the moment and there is no need for it, however it is on the list as a fine tune project.

I have already workout out on paper how I need to connect it (would only need to find the paper again ;-)), and iirc I with 1 or 2 extra relays it will be able to use the fast speed fan option (so sotck fans instead of extra ones). I feel confident it will work, but it will take at least until summer before I know it will...

It will not work on an Stype though, only for the XKR, but I see you could use it on yours ;-)

As mentioned there is NO flow between the two circuits other than pressure equalization and some contamination, so all I can imagine is only some drops flowing over
There is proof of this.

During a cooling system flush, it was found that:

-- the drained coolant mix from the engine circuit was RED (dexcool)
-- it was replaced with water and run for several days
-- during the final flush, the same circuit drained CLEAR
-- the drained coolant mix from the intercooler circuit was GREEN

The coolant had not been touched by the current owner. So, it had the opportunity to mix for several thousand mile. And did not mix. The circuits each retained the unique color of the coolant in each of them.

Not really desirable in the particular car. But, it ought to be pretty good proof of your assertion.
