I believe that the XF comes out to dealers this month. That is supposed to replace the S-type.

I have had to replace the supercharger( very rare i'm told ) and had a frozen front brake caliper but both were covered by Select Edition warranty.
The parking brakes were also sticking but they have been fixed. The car has never broken down and is a real pleasure to drive. Very fast! Most of my problems have been with the dealer and not the car. This is my 3rd jag and I would buy another one.
Also I would not buy one without some kind of warranty and that goes for any Jag, or any car for that matter!
Hopes this helps!

Nico, while I don't own the supercharged version I do have the S-type and it has been a real pleasure thus far. I would second what badmojo said about getting extended warranty, Jags are very expensive to repair. If money isn't any issue, I'd say go for it.

S-Type R with no warranty is a NO NO! The car is a great car, and seldom will you have trouble with it, but when you do...like you would with any car...it will be expensive. With that mileage, and with it being an 03, you should be able to get a good extended warranty for a decent price. I'd say it should cost you around $2-3K for an extension of around 5 years/100K miles.

Hi again everybody,
"Nico" has nothing to do with any other forums, just sign inname I took for the forum (this related to you Bigdreams)
I just woke up,couldnt sleep, bit nervous about the car. I test drived the R today : WOOOOOOAAAAAHH!! Never before experienced such acceleration!
Really nice feeling! This car is really gentelmens car, no wonder my wife doesnt want to drive it(sooner or later she has to-still not buying another car)

Couple of thingsare still bothering me: just found out on consumerguides.com that models 2003-05could
have problem with parking brake engage in MIDDLE OF ANY SPEED!!!!!

I will drive my kids in the car at moderate speeds but still... When alone I would really use this cars' potential (acceleration- not end speeds) and now I am worried. Any idea good people?Pls advice cos tommorow finishing the deal, and oh yeah.. is 30k expensive for 03 S-Type R (almost brand new-1500 km, car was not driven by the owner cos I know the rich guy has a lot of cars so cannot drive all of them).

The forum is really helpfull because of you guys,
thanks

I just remembered, today while test driving kicked the pedal a bit more in the curve just to feel how the car will behave and noticedthat something yellow blinked on the board for a second - I think the "slipery car" simbol for Dynamic Stability Control but not sure. Any idea? hope I am not very demanding so thank u guys anyway.

Yea, the flashing light is def the stability/traction control at work, taking off i sometimes get to see that flicker but i agree def get the extended warranty you cant go wrong with it and it could easily pay for it self many times over the first time something breaks. Super low mileage cars can suffer just as bad as very high mileage cars can so yes it is a good thing, but it doesnt mean its brand new still physically. if you have any questions feel free to ask ill be more then happy to help.

Don't be too freightened about the parking brake engaging issue... It wont lock up the tires or anything. If it engages, it will simply make the car drag (it feels like you are being held back when accellerating) and will wear out the rear brakes really quick. It wont cause you to crash or anything. Enjoy the new car!

The parking brake is not something to worry about since it's not something that will risk your life, and definitely get that extended warranty. $1600 is a great price, so jump on it. For the mileage...and only because of the mileage is this a good deal. However, remember that too low mileage can prove problematic too because people tend to think that because they haven't travled much that there is no need for an oil change. Not true BTW, I would change it every 7-10K miles or every 6-9 months because oil brakes down, and that's just facts. You could easily get an 03 for a bit over 20K...just look at our own classifieds.

Hi and welcome to Forum

They change some stuff and some stylinglike front Show or Rims & rear spoiler etc. in 2005 and now the XF is out already.
These are expensive cars and you will begetting into the exclusive club of High profile cars so you dont want to have any kind
of problems or any thing which downgrades your vehicle! So If you want to keep your vehicle uptodate, you need a warranty,
as its pretty expensive to even do regular updates.

I bought my 05 fromJaguar dealer after searching literally for couple of months and choosing between Mercedes, BMW M5 and Audi.
I got a superb deal as this is a CPO with 100k jaguar warranty upto 2011. I already utilized it by changing one of the headlights (not moving) the fuel system (not giving exact reading)
and some driver seat parts (feeling loose) The original warranty for your car was expired in 2007, so you should getan extended warranty.

The parking brake issue was an item that should have been fixed on a recall or a tech. service bulletin by the dealer.
