Default Should these be connected?

Ok I have had a good look around here at the vacuum pictures and checked through the JTIS which was useless! But I can not find any pictures or info regarding two pipes at the back of my manifold which are not connected to anything? One appears to come from the right hand side fuel rail the other (red) one from the manifold the other tube with this one in the black cover goes to the unit on the right hand side wing I think it's brake vacuum?. You can just make out the position of these in the thrid picture as you can just see the red pipe centre back. I have taken the pictures below of them hoping that some one here may know if these should just be left hanging?

Is the car running OK? Do you have any codes?

Yes it should be hooked up but it's a vacuum line and the car should be having issues? Any chance someone plugged it somehow?

Moderator "joyesjag" (Rick) is familiar with the vaccume lines. I'm sure he'll be her shortly. Otherwise +1 to clubairth, unless those lines are there for options or diesel setup.

If you look under the black cover of the one in your hand in the 2nd pic, I think you will find that the hose under the cover is also red, and they should be connected. If you can't source the exact part (or if its ridiculously priced) you should be able to use rubber washer tubing or similar to connect them. You may have to shorten the end of the uncovered section so it will fit right if you decide to do that.

Yes in cuts out on tickover all the time not getting any codes though. I was waiting for a good weather day to take the manifold off to check the notorious vac elbow for leaks, but in the meantme I found those so thought that may be my issue?

The red to red I take it you mean?

Doh!! Useful things mobiles are ...I just zoomed in of the first pic and realised what you meant the tube is red also under the black sheath you can see a bit! so these should be connected together then?
I'm sure I can find something in my tool shed to do that

Obvious thing is to check LTFTs before doing anything. Then, whatever you do, recheck after.

I don't think it has a code for "I was doing all the right things but the engine stopped", because codes try to point towards a best-guess list of causes.

Yes yes yes!

Connected them together and it's cured the cut out problem and no doubt will help the fuel trims down ticks over at 750ish and smooth before it was jumpy at 800+ then would cut, which I guess makes sense with extra oxygen being componsated for.

My obd app is on an android tablet but it just does not want to log
Anyway I had already done it lol.

Just in case it helps anyone else I used a piece of RC model aero fuel tubing, with it having good oil/fuel resistance properties etc I thought that will do! I warmed it up in a cup of hot water and the job was done. It was a little too flexable really so I had to make sure that both ends butted up together, nice fix though I think.

Just a few more jobs left to do now and ill be happy with my purchase.

Thanks for the help guys!

good you hooked it up, not only to stop the vacuum leak, but because it hooks to the fuel pressure transducer on the fuel rail for proper fuel pressure control
