Sirius Radio
Hello Folks!!...
Just a quick question Has anyone installed Sirius Radio in their STR? I have a 2005, and would like to do so... I talked to "Car Toys" up here in Oregon, and they said they can do it, but I thought I'd check with my peers here and see if problems could crop up... Perhaps I could beef up my rear amp at the same time...it seems kind of wimpy... I also have this thread on my home site.
Thank you for your time

My '06 STR had it when I purchased it. I must say, even though it's a dealer installed option, it doesn't look at all like Jaguar had a hand in making the face plate in the kit. It doesn't really match the rest of the dash and it looks like a cheap aftermarket installation.
Once installed it works fine... just detracts from the interior a bit. I am actually contemplating removing it for this reason.

I have mine installed in a dock suction cupped to the windshield beside the A-pillar. I went this route rather than the small version installed in the ashtray because I take my tuner from vehicle to vehicle, and to my office and home.
I used the connection kit where you place the Sirius antenna lead in-line with the factory antenna lead, this is your "input" to the OEM radio. Frankly the sound is perfectly acceptable with this method.
So your paricular issue would be: what kind of sat radio unit do you want, and do you want to be able to move it from place to place? After you figure that out then go from there.

I have had an XM Commander (I think the Audiovox Commander and Terk Commander are basically the same) installed in the ashtray of my '03 S-Type for the last 5 years. These use an included very high quality direct wired FM modulator. I have been very happy with this configuration, and you can still close the ashtray and hide it. The audio is amazing for an FM moduated unit.
I believe these are now discontinued, but are still available online if you search around.

Thank you fellas for your reply.
White XKR: Nice ride...I had a 98 XK8 before I bought this one. Sometimes I miss it. Had I purchased the "R" version...I would probably still have it...
cacloss: do you have a picture of your radio? I'd like to see what the face looks like.
The Chris X: Do you have a picture of your "dock"? Does any wires show?
I'll run this by th' Boyzzz at "Car Toys" and see whats availiable...
Thanks again...
