slugish...wont burn em
Hey guys...sorry long time no talk, ive searched around the site but couldnt find my scenerio... my 03 str dosent have the up-n-go it used to. once rpms are in the 2k range it has no porblem, plenty of power ect. but at a dead stop my str used to want to roast the tires now it hesitates then slowly climbs then takes off. i ran it by the dealer they diag. test drove and found no problems......apparently they dont see many str's they thought the accel was normal. so any ideas???

Hmmm, my first impression is dirty injectors. You can try some fuel treatment for a couple tank fulls, or have a fuel injection service performed, and by all means, keep the good gucci gas coming. ANy chance a significant other may have been filling up with the less desirable fuels?
2nd thought - air filter, have you checked it recently?

well there is a possibility of low grade gas. i unfourtunately pass an "interesting" little gas station on the way to work and fill up there, the pumps have got to be from the early 80's and they dont accept AMEX... pretty sure im not getting the octane i pay for....ill stop filling there and try these additives/injector cleaners...any chance of the Mass air flow sensor going bad or possibly dirty?
thanks for all the help.

yeah the ride seems to be running much better. i ran a full tank through with a bottle of injector cleaner and it seems fine. i also found a loose connection in my jag xp intake, im sure that wasnt helping anything. shes back to runnin strong and burnin rubber!!

Never thought about it. is this a "JAG" repair or something i could do at home? It definitely seems like a contender in the problem. The car is performing much better than it was now that i burned the bad gas and a bottle of injector cleaner but there is more. and im sure my smaller diameter pulley is causing some slipping too. the shop that installed the pulley said the tensioner is automatic and would not need adjustment but with 48k on the belt im guessing the tensioner is about maxed out.
Ill look into this belt thing do you have info on it or maybe a part number?
thanks for the help and ideas

You can save about $90 doing it yourself, so it all depends on how much you value your time.. But heres a link to buy one for $75.

hey thanks for the link im gonna look when i get home and see how much i need to remove to intstall the new belt, it may be worth it for me to pay the $165.00, I have no problem changing brakes radiators blah blah blah ect. on other cars but im so scared of breaking a plastic clip or screwing up one of these headlights on this STR that i wont do it.
