10 minutes later after my iPhone 11 Pro connencts
And successfully pairs with my 08 cat. I put the phone down figuring I’d look up how to use it later. Then I jump to replacing my halogen back up with LEDs so I’m messing around behind the trunk liner and I’m blown away because there’s an official jaguar Bluetooth module layin between the trunk liner and the body panel and right next to that is the elictrical adapter line it plugs into. But porky it’s unplugged yet 10 minutes before my iPhone 11 Pro paired with JAGUAR. How can both those thing be true?

If your car has the armrest based hands-free phone then you can easily replace the phone module (in the boot - behind the inner-wing mounted plate) with the upgraded bluetooth module as the wiring and microphone are all in place. For cars with no factory fitted phone the latter may be in place already, but it is not guaranteed the looms will be - but they can be retro-fitted.
This module has a plastic case and part number similar to 7W93-10D893 - this is listed as XJ/X type but works on my 2002 S Type very well (currently Samsung Galaxy S6). This is a direct replacement (apart from needing a DIY mounting bracket), and has an external antenna connection so the Bluetooth upgrade module (BTUM) is not needed.
Do not fit the module 2W93-19K350-** as this is primitive by comparison and requires the external BTUM and possibly wiring/pin changes.

Much sympathy for my fellow early 2000s S-Type owners with contemporary Bluetooth issues. I ordered my 2006 S-Type with Bluetooth and was thrilled to pair it with my Dell Venue Pro Smartphone. Worked beautifully all the way up to my Lumia 950 XL. After that smartphone everything went sideways. I have not had any success with pairing latter Android smartphones with the car. My contacts are still there, so I use the vintage Dell with a new SIM card and number. The redirect to the Jaguar Connectivity Center was disappointing as no model years before 2008 are listed. Any advice? Stick with my Dell Venue Pro?

If you have the X Type style of centre dash you could be ok, if you have the earlier semi-circle type then probably not.

My 2002 with the later BT phone module works will my Galaxy S6 - quite old but I don;t expect any problems when I upgrade soon.

My 2000 3.0 doesn't have blue tooth.I tried one of those little plug in the cig lighter goodies and it was a royal pita to install and then didn't work worth a crap. After reading consumer reports, I bought a Jabra Tour device that clips on the visor. As soon as I put it in the car, a voice from the device said it was paired and every time I get in the car it tells me I am paired. I have made several calls and it was excellent. I have not had one come in yet so I can't comment on that. A charge gives you about 20 hours talk time and it comes with a USB cord for charging. Oh, and IIRC the cost was around $65 +/-

Just FWIW... I was having issues with my Android phone through the car's BT. The issue was, after paired, I could hear callers perfectly but was told my voice was garbled. I searched this issue and a few hits saying forgetting the phone, then pairing again solved the issue. This did not work for me. But then I notice my phone had a "disconnect" selection under BT menu. So, I disconnected my phone -- them reconnected. Solved the issue -- assuming I have to repeat each time I'm in the car. 2008 4.2 NA.

Hey! I'm 76! So don't give me that geezer excuse! But seriously the issue is the Jag unit won't allow music over BT and since it doesn't have an aux jack one needs to get creative.

I also have the CD-Changer in the backside. But prefer streaming. If the Jag unit had wi-fi the Spotify app might see it. But no wi-fi; restricted BT; no auxiliary input... what were they thinking back then? In the '90's we rented a Turbodiesel Alfa in Vence and drove it all the way to south of Naples and back. The radio had an aux-in and we listened to my kid's complete library of tunes instead of gushing Italian love songs. Maybe the Jag designers needed to hear an Italian language version of "When the Moon hits your eye like a Big Pizza Pie" and they would have run screaming back to the radio design board!
