my understanding is that 0171 an 0174 are lean codes, meaning the car is sensing an excessive air to fuel ratio in the exhaust. Causes are either too much air due to a leak somewhere infusing unwanted air into the mix OR too little fuel being delivered due to clogged injectors, weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter etc etc.
So far again today (now 3 days with multiple drives, I am not getting cel or lean codes. However, evap monitor still not resetting, which also (thanks to Jag engineers) means that the comprehensive monitor also remains incomplete. I'm keeping a daily eye on the readings on obd scanner. As I reported previously, the air/fuel ratio and fuel trims are jumping all over the place, but so far have not set the lean code. Keeping fingers crossed, just like a lottery ticket.
