Sold mine two. Will miss the exterior styling tremendously. I just love the S type lines with the R 18" wheels and fat tires. It's a thing of beauty.

But the power handling and true german quality of my new c55 amg is something I couldn't resist. Aftermarket for it is loaded too.

As much as I wanted the 300 and it made sense.... It was hard driving out of the dealer with mine sitting there with no plates....

Then I floored the 300...

Over time you will be happy you switched to the C55, the parts are priced so much better than jaguar. I have a C55 in my rental fleet, its an outstanding vehicle. There are some great benz forums also, I have posted quite a few DIY threads over the years. Do your self a favor and buy a Star diagnostic scanner, the computer system in the benz is incredible.

I expect so, but so is the Jaguar computer system - buy AutoEnginuity (or SDD etc) and see

Hmmm... Is that the same Starscan that people get for the Chrysler LX cars??? If so, yea there are a bunch of things you can control with it. Not just look..

I wonder if there is a handheld tuner available for them? The tuner I have for the 300C is probably to neatest thing I've ever got for a car. It allows me to tune just about anything that is adjustable. It is probably the only "20hp+" add on mods that actually work and have been dynoed.

Congrats, Jason. Like Rick, I'm expecting you to announce the purchase of that 2007 STR any minute now....

I have a neighbor interested in our 2005 S-Type 3.0 (coming up on 70,000 well-maintained miles). I truly do not want to sell it, my wife does. Since she got her 2006 XK8 on February 4th, she has not driven the S-Type at all....

I have a friend interested in my wife's 2004 Lexus RX330 AWD SUV (coming up on 121,000 well-maintained miles). I want to sell it, she does not. Since she got her XK8, she has driven the Lexus twice (both times were on snow-and-ice days) ....

Looks like we have another battle brewing in our household....

I think AE can control things, too. I've had no reason to mess as yet

It is very similar but the software is different, you mite be able to use the same multiplexor.

A bit difficult on a car like the S-Type, which doesn't have air suspension.

I'm aware AE can control various things but as I say I haven't needed to do that and in the winter in my unheated garage I'm not about to play!!

Thank you. The car is so solidly constructed I can't help but feel it'll last forever with some good TLC. I never quite got that feeling in the STR. I've already got plans for modifications under the hood but first I'm tweaking the outside... the windows got tinted today.

Thanks for the advice. I'm already a member over on the benz forum and have been using the search engine plenty. Glad to hear that price for parts will be a be a bit easier on the wallet. It's only a C class afterall!

The coolant leak which I developed around the time Androulakis worked on my audio system had been continually worsening. That was ultimately the final straw the caused me to sell.

Looks wise I don't think the C55 can compete with the STR. But as I mentioned before the interior, power, handling, and aftermarket support more than makes up for it. I'll post pics once I'm done with physical mods.

How many miles on the C55? Not sure that I would trade an S-Type R for it, but it looks pretty nice. Neighbor had a silver one of those for a few years. I just couldn't get over the fact that it looks almost identical to a base C240 except for the wheels. That and the really small interior. I'm 240 lbs, so that's probably just me hehe. Does it have any warranty? I remember seeing some repair bills from the local dealer, they were in the $3,xxx range for the dash/nav screen going out or something to that effect. I'll never forget that sour face my neighbor made while explaining it to me lol.
