I've currently got the wife's STR stripped down to the bones for a respray, just finishing it up this week hopefully! Bumper has to come off, so does the side skirt, it hides two bolts. Seems they built these cars in a way that lots has to come off to get anything off. One tip, there is a big wiring harness clipped to the fender near the front, make sure to pop it off before trying to pull the fender off or you'll be scratching your head wondering what's going on (ask me how I know!). I can try to get some pics if you need of it torn down tomorrow or Tuesday when I'm working on it again.

Was hoping the front bolt was accessible from inside the hood assuming there's only one. Would it be possible to unbolt one side of the bumper ?

+1

But... looks like OP has headlamp washers and they're a complication.

I can't recall if that's covered in JTIS.

Also, in some parts of the world rust is a major hassle.

Okay, got some pics today. Here is the fender with the bolt locations circled. There are also another two bolts up behind the fender along the door. Harness connects at the front in some of holes below the bolt holes. There may be another two bolts right at the front but I can't remember at the moment (I've taken off what seems like 1000 bolts taking this thing apart and they all blur together after a while!).

And here is that pesky harness that is attached to the fender that you will have to pop off.

And here is the entire side minus everything.

So the side skirt hides the two lower bolts and the splash guard hides the two along the door (splash guard must come out). Then the two near the front bumper can be removed without taking the bumper off, but then you can't really get the fender out and get that harness off without removing the bumper. It's easy enough and I think you would only have to take that side off, not the entire thing. As to the headlight washers, easy enough. I just grab a hold and pull them out, then pop off the covers and all done!

And rust is a big issue up here. I actually had to drill out one of the two lower bolts under the side skirt as it had rusted solid and the head broke off. The main reason the fender is off too was to fix rust. This car needed a major over-hall to clean up all the rust. Fortunately the majority of it was just surface and easy to clean up!

Just watched that bumper video removal and follow that and you should be good. Also, at the end of the video (around 2:35), if you look at the front of the fender just under the headlight, you will see where the harness connects and two bolts (the two I just mentioned may be there since I couldn't remember). These have to come off or that fender isn't going anywhere.

*I added the bolt locations to the pic above.

So to sum it up, there are the 8 bolts I mentioned here, plus the 4 obvious ones along the top lip holding the fender on. I wonder if 12 bolts is enough? I'm sure they could have squeezed a few more in there somewhere in a really good hiding place that the engine has to be removed to get to!

Well, they showed up when I first did it! Looks like photobucket now makes you pay $400 a year to have the ability to link pics. I'll repost them another way when I get home today. Anyway, the harness is actually the big main harness that runs along the front impact bar.

As to the doors, yes the fender needs to come to do it the easy way! There are the two hinges holding the door on (obviously), and one little 'arm', all with two bolts each to the door, or frame for the arm. The door needs to be closed to get the hinge bolts, therefore, they are hidden nicely behind the fender in this position. I can try to get more pics if needed. I think you can actually see the hinges and where the bolts were in the side pic I had (when I get it back up!).

*** Fixed it! Just added them as attachments now.

No need to molest the fenders to R&R the front doors:

Good to know the door can come off without removing the fender. Learn something new everyday! I guess since I had everything apart it seemed easier to take the door off with the fender off. Also, I think for me I'd be worried I would ding up the fender and/or door if I left it on and tried to remove the door. I tend to be a little clumsy so the less stuff in the way to mark up the better.

I rolled the window down, suspended it from the overhead with a couple of ratchet straps around the window-frame then unhooked it from the straps and set it aside safely. For some reason, I remember having to maneuver the car with the door off to get good lineup for re-installation - I guess I got tired of the strap hooks hitting me in the head as I worked on the wiring and I moved them...or something. But as it was novel and looked fun, I took it for a quick spin out the drive and up the road just a short distance!
A word of caution, the method I used would probably be a bitter ex-wife on re-installation without the ratchet straps holding it in place - I mean no way you could do it alone, but if you had a buddy or kid or two....I predict smashed fingers on the person fitting the bolts to the hinges and the guys holding the door will be exposed to an expanded vocabulary.....

I fully believe that. I had my dad helping me, and the fender was off so I had great access to the hinge bolts, and still, it was a pain. These doors are HEAVY, but the fact the car is built like a tank is actually a good thing in my mind. No question who would win when the texting distracted driver in their Aveo (or similar tiny little car wanna be!) smashes into it. I can hear my wife now: "Did a squirrel just run into me? Oh wait, it was some idiot in a car."

When we were rear ended by a F250 in the SV8, it felt like a slight bump. We barely even moved in our seats, kinda felt like going over a bump in the road!
