Speed Limiter Removal

Speed Limiter Removal
I am one of those people privileged to live near Sebring, FL, where you can get on the track and drive your car to its limits.
I know that the limit is 121 mph. I would like to know if I could get it to go a little faster.
Does anyone have any software that could remove or reset the top speed limit parameter?

FloridaJag, odds are, I think you will end up going with an aftermarket ECM to get the desired out come. Most manufacturers have that as a hardwired input into the computer. You may want to try and talk to your local dealership, but I think you will find that they will either be unwilling to make the change or tell you that it is a pre-set thing that they can't change even if they wanted to.

FloridaJag, take a look at a company called SCT. A lot of guys with Ford trucks have been very happy with the products that they have bought from them. These chips are a little bit more expensive, but they continue to back their products long after your buy them. The other benefit is that they are programmable as many times as you want. So, as you upgrade your car with new exhaust, new intake, etc, you can write to SCT and they will bring up your current program, make the necessary modifications, and then send the new program back to you. If I remember right, the updated programs are either free or come at a very low price.
There's a lot of different options out there when you are looking at aftermarket ECU's. I would recommend getting a slightly more expensive one mainly for the fact that they tend to be customized to your car, not programmed with a generic set of instructions. This will help ensure you get the most out of your car.
