O.K. I'm really confused here... the J-Gate was in 3rd, so it will not shift into 4th. What's the issue here? Show me a vid of it doing this with the shifter in D.

Edit: Nevermind, the last few seconds show it... But it also showed that once you let off it up shifted... Can you post a vid of what the car does when you accelerate in D? But at this point I think you need to get the TCM re-flashed at the Jag Dealership.

I think the RPM decrease in the last few seconds is from the OP letting up on the gas as the speed seems to drop off simultaneously.

What's the red light to the upper right of the speedo?

Right, but it's kind-of tricky... why would RPMs drop almost instantly when the speed drops slowly? It does not seam to match a 3rd gear decel. It had to up-shift, or go into N right? The vid really don't spend much time on the dash after he let off so I might be seeing things... lol

As I understand it, the transmission will not shift higher than 3rd gear no matter what the engine RPM, vehicle speed or shifter position.

You are missing some serious power.
Most cars with high mileage in the UAE have been hammered the hell out of it.
On top of that, maintenance has often been skipped or wrong parts fitted.
Yours might have been running low on oil, or have wrong sparks plugs fitted if they were ever changed at all.

Have it maintained first and make sure filters an plugs are changed as a start and try over again

If the engine is in sufficiently good shape to quickly and smoothly reach red line in 3rd gear while propelling the car to 160 km/hr I doubt that lack of power is the issue.

Mikey, thanks.

I can't think of why it would rev well in D (the autobox having in fact chosen 3) yet not go to 4.

I think UAE is an "arduous market" in jag-speak so has its own Service & Maintenance schedules etc (available from TOPIx).

thanks for ur reply here i posted another one in D
as i saidd in normal driving its verry smoth and the transmition shifts normally, am facing this only when i use max power i feel like there is no enough power comming from the engine because the RPM doesnt reach to shifting point. previously the car used to reach 200 km/h in same duration for current 160 kmh.

am sure about re-flashing TCM at jag delership without identifying the problem. thats why am keeping this visit as my last choice.
thanks

well,, my jag was maintained regularly at jag delearship every 8000 km untill 140000 km i stopped getting the car maintained in the agency just changing oil and filters in in the garage.
spark plugs was changed at the agence at 120000 km and the milage now is 175000km
oil and filters just replaced two moths ago wich is less then 5000 km

hmm yeah jag dealer is the worst in UAE. they needed 4 days to discover a leak in water pump

Your second video (with transmission in D) clearly shows the RPM reaching and surpassing the appropriate shifting pint.

For this problem, I don't see the point of putting it in any gear except D. If I have it right, it just doesn't go past 3rd no matter how you drive it - I guess you're "feeling" the gear changes or relying on the speed and RPM to work out which gear it's in.

It would seem not to be developing as much power as it used to do - again, if I've understood.

Causes for not developing enough power include:
1. problem with delivering enough fuel into the engine, so:
1a. fuel filter problem
1b. fuel pump problem
1c. fuel line (hose) problem
1d. injector(s) problem
1e. problem with the actual fuel (such as its quality)
2. lack of air into the engine (so, check filter, etc) or perceived lack (e.g. MAF problem)
3. lack of exhaust out of the engine (such as damaged cat)
4. problem with some sensor the PCM relies on (not too likely, but such as IAT, ECT and so on are critical)
5. problem with ignition (coil/plug/wiring etc for them, but you also need a good battery and preferably alternator etc)

As you're using WOT you can ignore various things that can otherwise potentially be problems because they're not used at WOT (such as O2 sensors).

I've probably overlooked something.

Maybe the fuel filter? Quite easy & cheap to change.

Note my signature below for acronyms
