Default Squeak/chirp at WOT

Everytime while at a full stop or cruising and floor it, I hear a "tout" kind of sound like my horn going off for a split second. I assumed it was skid control kicking in, but it still "beeps" whenskids control isoff. Any ideas? I appears to be coming from under the car.

Does it make the same sound it makes when you press the lock button twice on the remote?

it's called a tranni squawk .. your transmission needs 1 liter of fluid removed and 1 liter of this really expensive additive.. made in germany it's like $120 it's a friction modifyer.. all the6speed ZF 's tranni's need it.

no it's not urgent that you replace right away.. it's just a noisy clutch pack in the tranni.. it's just annoying.. i wud do it but not a rush.. ill tell you tomorrow what it's called.. or call a dealer they will have it in stock.

Did you find out what the name of the stuff was? Unfortuantely the closest jag dealership is 100 miles away and I was hoping I could buy this stuff online to put it in myself. Thanks

Edit: I'm just curious, I wonder why does this need to put it? Does this squack happen Bimmers and the other cars with this same tranny?

Have you asked the dealer? Probably your best bet.

I have the same sound. It sounds like a "hoot" when accelarating. Is this affecting the tranny? I have had that sound since i bought the Jag in June... I have about 6,500 miles on it.

Please advise if I should have tranny fluid removed and add the additive mentioned above. Has anyone had this noise and had it repaired by using the additive or some other method that wouldn't need me to make a costlyb trip to the dealer? Thanks

Does anyone know if this TSB is covered by the Jag Select Edition Warranty?

My 05 XJ does it too. Only 36K miles on it and under SE warranty since 23K miles. My dealer says the fix is not covered but I would like other opinions. The problem has existed since I got the car. In my opinion it should have been fixed before it was sold to me as an SE car.

gg - Can't you just ask the jag dealer or if need be jag corporate?

r - I don't see the XJ mentioned in that TSB so look for one that covers the XJ.

I had my car repaired because of this problem. There was a specific TSB that addressed the issue. The dealer initially told me that the problem would be covered under the select edition warranty. After they determined the problem would be fixed by the fluid exchange I was informed that the select edition warranty would not cover it. I contacted Jag Corporate and received horrible customer service. Jag Corporate refused to cover the repair even though the transmission is a covered component. I am kicking myself for choosing this car over the Cadillac CTS-V. I will be making a full post tomorrow regarding my experience with the car and Jaguar's dealer network and customer service. I will also be filling a complaint with the BBB and the State of California. **DO NOT BUY A SELECT EDITION JAGUAR**
