I just unbolt one bolt and let the end link hang. It's just a temporary test and afterwards I would hook it back up to keep everything in place.

If you think the strut brace is part of the problem you can remove it and drive around too? Never have had that reported but I am sure it's possible to make noise.

I have no problem with the stabilizer bar bushings. The cost and time to replace a wearable part while I am doing other things on the link stabilizer is insignificant. I am one that will just replace. If I show a bad O2 sensor, for example, I am not going to waste the time to move it to the other side. I will just replace it. Working on cars and having car problems has no excitement for me. The dealerships are the most incompetent and unethical group of people I have encountered. Part stores are filled with more fools that really know nothing (not even most of the time knowing how to use the computer properly).

Let me go back to the original question. If I take and jack up the car and immediately hear a creaking sound coming from the area for the first 4 inches of the jacking and it disappears and one by one, I will lube different parts from where the sound comes from and that is the final one I find- well there is a logic and explains while under extended warranty why Jag did not find it as they went through there prescribed procedures and paid zero attention to what I was telling them and that is the life of dealing with dealers and those that never get outside a small box.

My other question was on the sway bar bushings and while they do not need to be replaced now- they are going to be replaced and how do you get to the front bolt short of being an octopus?

Jazzwineman,
I know you probably found what you needed but this video, IMHO, is one of the best on the internet for helping you diagnose your suspension noises. Definietly worth the look. It happens that another member here listed it, here is the title of the forum you need to look under. Inspecting S-Type f/r suspension I think you can just copy that to the SEARCH field above and find it. Hope this helps.
