Any advice would be welcome.

My 4 litre 1999 S type petrol auto has just decided to have a break!

When I insert the key the alarm sounds and does not turn off when I turn the key to ignition 3. It also refuses to start the ca, just putting up the message "steering locked" on the dash.

The only way to turn off the alarm is to disconnect the battery.

I have tried removing fuse 19 - steering locks - but to no avail.

I have had the small coil in the key - A7 - replaced, but that hasn't affected the issue at all.

Really at a loss as to what to do now - I cannot move the car or start it and am running out of things to try. Any suggestions would be most welcome
