Default Steering wheel squeak

Been squeaking for a few years now but low volume and only very occasionally.
Over the last week it's been more pronounced. The circa 95 degrees heat each day may have something to do with it?
Never changed the PS fluid in circa 75,000 miles?
Seen a few posts about the noise but curious to see what the latest suggestions are.
Cheers.

Here is a link to the newest and final Technical Bulletin about this noise:

This method is worth a try before you do anything else.

You can try that but you need the magic juice. C2S 48887
This was very common in the earlier years and the Lincoln LS also suffered from this noise.
See the attached TSB for more details.

I have the 2003 with the ZF rack
the zf rack uses mobile atf 320.
i just changet the oil with fresh one and works fine now.
havent used the additive. I was too lazy to order it. I just thought that a brand new fluid will do. And it did it

oh firstly i tried with castrol dex3 and i had to flush that spooky substance out as it made my steering very heavy. As soon as mobile 320 atf was bavk in the system, it worked fine again

You can try that at first. Most will find the noise does come back.

Interesting
Out of curiosity, the seal needs to be rejuvenated and it's only the additive that can do that? Or how come? Thanks!

Thanks gents. Some great up to date information.
I'll try Mellow's tech bulletin attachment first and report back.
All seems to be stemming from "a seal inside the steering rack".

That's a good point.
How does performing Technical Bulletin S211-04 (Mellow's attachment) crazy procedure cure the seal's squeak?
Clubairth1's later released, Technical Bulletin JTB00055 attachment, certainly a painful procedure and very different in focussing on just an additive, does seem to make a bit more sense since it's targeting the (I assume swelling of the) seal...

I was reading the procedure for fixing the squeak. It seems to me that going lock to lock, etc is a bit much, like trying to make the system leak from all the pressure. In my car the rack is seeping fluid in places, but I hardly ever have to add any fluid to the reservoir. The steering is very smooth and I'd rather live with the occasional squeak then take the chance of making it worse. Does the additive work without doing the ritual?

not the same harsh movements, but you will have to check the temp and rotate the steering wheel to max a few times

If you are going to use the additive, I would recommend freshening the PS fluid prior to commencing the ritual detailed in the Tech Bulletin.

Maybe I'll turn up the radio instead.

Yes if adding the magic juice you should "exercise" the steering wheel some to make sure the additive is well dispersed. But others have done nothing special and in the following weeks the noise got less and less until it went away. The noise has come back after using the magic juice in a few cars. Several people have treated the P/S more than once to quiet the noise.

It's cheap and easy to do so as a first attempt it's well worth it. As posted above I always change fluid before I add this to the P/S. I should mention that one or two people have posted that just changing the fluid helped too.
If not fixed then elevate your repairs to something more serious.

Yess! And use the oem fluid! (Mobile atf320 for the zf rack)

i tried castrol the fist time and it was causing a hard steering. I reflushed with mobile 320 and works as new, in my case.

good luck!

Drove the car today and yesterday. A few miles only but no noise whatsoever. Funny how it comes and goes.
