While this is an old thread and adding the power steering additive seems to quiet the steering wheel squeak for many, I thought I’d share my experience. My 2005 S-Type started the steering wheel noise at about 100,000 miles. As preventative maintenance, I replaced all the fluids: transmission, differential, windshield washer, coolant, normal oil filter change, brake lines (bled), and power steering. After a few thousand miles the steering wheel squeak was gone. It has been about a year and 10,000 miles, with no squeak.
I used the turkey baster method to remove the old power steering fluid.
First I removed the screen in the power steering reservoir and used a turkey baster to remove the power steering fluid, about 4 times, with a few hundred miles between each “drain and fill”. The screen has since been replaced.
The way I see it, the power steering fluid was well beyond it’s useful life and needed to be replaced anyway.
Has anyone else experienced the squeak going away after changing the power steering fluid?

Just the opposite. I had to put some of the additive in again. Maybe my Jaguar has longer teeth and claws?

Hello Campdublanc

Sorry for the delay in my reply. When you read the ingredients, PAS Fluid C2S48887 and Lubrizol 6178 appear to be very similar. Neither company provides the exact chemical components (for proprietary reasons, I imagine), but the general descriptions are in the same ball park. I added Lubrizol 6178 to my XJ8 and the minor squeal sound disappeared. That was a couple of months ago and all is still fine.

This is the Lubrizol additive that worked in my 2005 XJ8. Basically the same as the Jaguar PAS Additive Fluid.

Yes I flushed mine about 3 times now and its smooth, quiet, and the squeak is completely gone. Here is my post -> https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...vation-209156/
