My 2005 S-Type 4.2 is coming with the big stereo. I want to replace it with something more modern, but I don't want the replacement to look out of place. Here are my thoughts and a few questions:

MY PLANNED SETUP
- I'm thinking of buying a Pioneer MVH-1400NEX (https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/P...EX/MVH-1400NEX). It's got great reviews and it's all screen. No buttons making it look aftermarket.
- I want to buy a PAC Audio Control Pro5 controller to retain steering wheel controls (https://catalog.pac-audio.com/catalo...cement/swi-cp5).

QUESTIONS
- Is the stereo in the car a standard double-din? I want to make sure the replacement stereo will fit.
- Will my setup work? I'm sure you guys have tons of experience
- Do I need to buy an amp in addition to the stereo?
- Am I missing anything?

I would not change the touch screen display as this controls more than just the stereo.
For example it does the climate control and even the setting of the clock in the dashboard display.
Removing it will cause all sorts of problems.

You will also find it very difficult to link the various stereo control buttons into a replacement stereo.
Others may have had more experience with this.
I would recommend that you go down the 'Jagdroid' path or keep it standard.

Thanks Mellow! Hmmm, you're right, that might create problems. I Googled Jagdroid and saw their product. I'm not loving that you need to have an external box with the wheel to control it. I'm gonna keep on looking to see if I can find something else. I'll keep you posted!
