Check out this thread. Post #4 is instructions for building a magnetic leaper. Just remember to remove it when parked.

I saw that ... But I wanted something that doesn't require keeping the leaper with you. I want something that pulls the leaper inside the hood like a rolls Royce

Such a mechanism would probably cost more than the present day value of the cars.

Could you wire up some nice stout capacitors to the leaper??

Keep it properly armed at all times?

Leapers are relatively cheap nowadays not like when I bought a replacement for my stolen one for $130. I would buy a stack of them one for every year you're planning to keep the car. Alternatively, you can wire up your leaper with a stungun or something equivalent to zap the next person with a mild shock if they dare touch your leaper.

A few months ago a delivery man came to deliver some products and seen my Jag in my driveway..and started a small conversation on the leaper, said he was at a junk yard once and seen a jag and that he asked the owner if he could have the leaper and was denied because the junk yard owner said it was worth $600 USD...and I guess he thought mine was worth $600 as well LOL...He definitely fell in love with the car as he couldn't keep his eyes off.

That idea is exactly why people steal them!!

I lost one to a deer hit and never found it alongside the road but otherwise I have been lucky and it's been left alone.

they may be cheap in th US but in Jordan where I live the dont sell for less that 500 dollars. So if im going to get another one i have to be pretty sure that it doesnt get stolen.
i was thinking that the best way is to wire it to the horn if it is touched. But can anyone help me with this? maybe put some links for schematics ?

Too funny, because I had the same thought. One major downside, however: As humorous as it would be to shock a criminal in the act, after the pain subsides, said miscreant is now standing alone in front of your car and probably intent on revenge. Not a good scenario...

How about a switch underneath the leaper and tied into the stock alarm system? If connected to activate just the horn, it would continue to honk until the battery went dead. If you could instead connect it to the alarm system, it would at least shut itself off (not sure how long) instead of killing the battery.

Wire a large capacitor to it . Nice big shock for the idiot who tries to nick it.

Break a facial razor and attach the razors under the leaped with super glue. Use wire cutters and cut to fit.

The alarm would be activated only after the leaper is removed. Doesn't solve the problem.

Default Bicycle horn will do

I purchased a 5$ electronic Bicycle horn, it operate on 9V battery that will last forever, and include a push button to activate. It is LOOOUUUDD!!
Just enough to attract attention and deter the intruder. It is autonomous - will not drain any battery. Ample space under the front grill. Just attach one side of the wire that goes to the pushbutton to ground, and the second one to a piece of string wire that will touch the spring of the leaper when someone move it. The spring underneath the leaper is the key. a bit of handworking and a single wire from that connection to the horn - and you are done. Cheap + effective. And it trigger the horn before the leaper is gone... and it's loudness is hearth-stopping...
I will post pics when I install mine.

Battery included...
