Do a search for part number C2C40513 it brings up a few hits.
Coupla guys in the US offering them for around $400, justjagsuk.com offers for £213+VAT Or you could always ask a Jag dealer? What about Nalley with thier 15% discount?
Getting back to the Nav, if you have a disc with a newer firmware than what's currently installed in your system, it will automatically update when you first load the disc.

With the nav, there's lots of conflicting info...This thread is the first time I heard there is an actual update disc...Someone posted in another Nav thread that they have the U.S. 2010-2011 Maps disc and still have the limitation...Perhaps only the 2010+ U.K. Maps disc automatically updates the firmware...Some U.K. member needs to ***** their disc out to us poor U.S. folks...lol

I wouldn't call it an update disc as such. Every 2010 Western Europe map disc has the firmware included on it.
So if you have one of these discs, and load it in the car, it updates the firmware automatically. I know the latest AUS/NZ discs do the same. Not sure about the USA discs.
I updated the firmware in my friends 2004 S-Type, just by loading in my 2010 disc. Then we took the 2010 out, putting back his existing 2005 one. The firmware update stays (black/white logo screen, input on the move, new colours on the map) but the old map data from the 2005 disc is used.
Yep, that's the thing with the ACM. Once I'd bought/installed it (myself), I decided that for that money, it'll have to be used, a lot.

Clearly any disc after 2008 has to by necessity include any firmware update since that's the way it made it to the marketplace, as an update disc. There were no cars after 2008.

I'm whining about the entry when driving limitation...My 2009-2010 disc still has that limitation and someone commented that they have the 2010-2011 and still have it as well...I guess the belief is you need either 2009-2010 non-U.S. disc or the update disc...

I don't when or if they eliminated that here in the USA but the disc you have definitely has any firmware update released on it.
Do you know that this was ever eliminated on North American cars?
Why not just ask your local dealer. If they're any good I would think they would know.
There is a newer version out now if you feel like popping for another $200 ...

I'd be unsurprised if when asked about this a dealer either says they don't know or gives the wrong answer. (Think how good many of them are about arcane details relating to the S-Type, or even non-arcane details.)
From previous posts almost none even know about the TSB telling how to recover a Nav that's gone to the blank screen (*). Yet it's clearly and extensively documented specifically for dealers.
(*) I'm guessing this is what Bob meant by "bricked", though IMO that should mean an unrecoverable Nav rather than one where you just have to perform the documented procedure.

Will do with the dealer (and get the ACM price while I'm at it)...The question I'm guessing the dealer cannot answer is what is the update? Over multiple threads it was ASSUMED the entry while driving limitation was removed, nav was faster and I saw one person say the keyboard changed from abcdef to qwerty...
I'd just like an updated set of maps because mine is really old but not at those prices. Especially when I look at how it operates. If one of the firmware updates really makes a dramatic difference in the quality of operation I'd like to know about that.
Now that the newer versions has been released perhaps the 2009-2010 North America disks will become reasonable and show up on Ebay?

Maybe Navteq would be willing to let you know the non-map specific changes?

Holy thread jack.. ?
Haha. I apparently shouldn't have asked "btw" about the ipod ha.
I have zero issues taking cars fully apart or splicing etc.
I will however agree its the very least of my concerns w the car, yes.
My concerns for the thread primarily are the big differences between model years for the str .. and i've got some good things to go here...at least by the first page haha. Let's make a new thread for the ipod stuff or add it to the one already.going y..

The later STRs had to obey ever-tighter emissions laws so got SAIR (secondary air - it's forced into the exhaust) as well as other things (changes to EVAP, the EPB, and so on). I suppose some of this is just extra stuff that might fail, or fail differently, but otherwise I guess it can be ignored. I don't know if SAIR etc would be more likely to trigger codes if you do custom stuff with exhaust/cats.
To a first approximation, the STR didn't change through the years because really the changes aren't really that major (unless you have a strong preference for some specific thing(s) - as some people do).
The later cars got more CAN and modules etc that aren't in JTIS, and the SAIR etc stuff also isn't in JTIS. So the more you want to know the car / DIY, the more you'll need to spend time (and a little money) on TOPIX or the like.

Guys i may not end up going to STR route and just may go ST.. is there an y suggestions youd say for what models to completely avoid?
I really just dont need to Positive pressure ( FI) cars to rely on.. Im thinking maybe a NA car would be the way to go, and they are FAR cheaper used.. most hover around 10k around here and California versus 16k for an STR, and much more rare to find.
Your thoughts?

If going the NA route stick with the 4.2 V8 cars... 2003 and up.
Since you are in Arizona, a local car won't be a concern with rust and such. Be aware of cracked wood panels from the heat of the sun. Very expensive to replace or fix.
A point to remember that the 2005 cars were just an appearance refresh and the major mechanical and interior components stayed the same. Some felt that they were "better" because of revisions but as time as shown they too suffer the same common failures as all the rest.
So, in your quest, condition and verified maintenance history should out weigh any particular year. IE: An older car with a solid history in mint condition would be better than a newer car without documentation.
Just my 2 cents...
