STR brake dust

STR brake dust
I'm a relatively new STR owner and seem to be accumulating lots of brake dust - far more than I've experienced in other cars, and I'm not driving it that hard. It's a 2005 I found a couple months ago with 18,000 miles (the proverbial little old lady, so I'm pretty sure SHE didn't thrash it), so the pads are "old" but have lots of life in them. Is this typical of Brembos (do they even make the pads?)? Any suggestions as to how to keep the wheels from looking disgusting after a week or so of driving? My GTI-driving son is offended by my gross wheels....

Once you get the ceramic pads, take your wheels off. Clean them like them you have never cleaned them before, then apply two coats of a good heavy paste wax. Let it harden and buff it out....
What little dust is produced by the ceramics you can take off with a hose after that.
Take care,
George

The brakes are biased towards the front so they do a majority of the braking to the more dust on the front is probably just from that. My rears seem to dust more so I'm assuming they are metallic and my fronts are always good so I'll assume they are ceramic. I haven't replaced my pads yet so they are what the previous owner had put on.
Oh yea X1 on the Akebonos thats what I'm going to go with once my pads are due.

I did exactly this when I put the Akenbono pads on.
OMG what a difference. The waxing really helps too.

I went from EBC red to the Akebono with the fronts going first. EBC is better then the factory pads in terms of dust but the front with Akebono was a lot cleaner then the rears with the EBC on chrome plated wheels...fronts would be shinny and the rear would be a grey mess...just to put the Akebono vs EBC into perspective. Also, the Akebono dust is much easier to clean than the EBC.

Akebono's here too and much better in the dust reduction category. Go for it.
I use this Armor All wheel spray stuff that actually really does work to keep the dust from sticking and what does eventually stick comes off with the hose. Not a huge Armor All fan, but this aerosol stuff really does work pretty good.

I'll add...I got a Centric Posi-Quiet ceramic pads...They're very dusty, I had about a 20 miles total commute (zero highway, all stop and go) and there would be visible dust after 3 days...I didn't wax the rims, though...
How many miles are you guys seeing dust on the fronts with the Akebonos?

Just a comment on brake dust. If you have a STR and drive somewhat vigorous the rear wheels will get more brake dust than the fronts. With 400 Ft-Lb of torque the traction control kicks in a bunch more than you think it does. So the rear brakes get a pretty good work out even when you don't have your foot on the brake.
I first noticed this on my wife's 2003 Lincoln LS V-8. The STR has more power so it's even worse.
