Default STR cup holder finish / refurbishment?

Hello Guys,

I was attempting to clean my central cup holders by placing them in dishwasher, only to find out that it was a very bad idea. The rubberised finishing has partly come off making them look horrible.

Does anyone know what finish it is? Im hoping its available in a spray can, but ive no idea what to look out for?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Mine has the same problem, and I didn't stick it in the dishwasher....

Plasi-Dip In Spray Cans Should Work Really Well. My Girls Car Was Hit In The Rear Wheel Which Caused Some Suspension Damage. The Plasti-Dip'd Wheel Received A Few Scratches..Not Bad Considering The Force Of The Impact, Which Sent Us Spinning Off The Roadway.

Trying to avoid the dry matt type paints if possible - How does the plasti-dip feel? Much like the existing cup holders? Came across it on eBay, but its kinda hard to make a decision based on a picture!

Would it not be easier to get a salvaged part?

Ive tried, but turns out they are quite rare, and all the ones ive found are flaking anyway.

It Kinda Feels Like The Original Cup Holder Coating But, More Of A Textured Feel. It Does Have Some Grip To It. If You Don't Like It, It Peels Right Off Like A Sticker.

I just restored some console pieces of my corvette - same rubberised finish.
I tried plastidip , but its not at all hardy and peels off too easy.
At any rate , I did it the hard way , got all the rubberised stuff off (in my dishwasher and manually) and then lightly sandblasted the part and sprayed it with matte black automative duco (5 light coats)
Looks almost identical to original ..if not better.
