I agree with the low list rating.
Down here no one stole Jags, ever, they were toooo well known to be unreliable, leaked oil (left a trail mostly), and flogging Jag bits was impossible.
Soooo for all the things we complained about for 30+ years, were really a master plan by Jag for our protection, HAHA.

Back in the early 80's, I worked for a Marketing Research firm which was part of Aidcom International PLC. They conducted a study on Jaguars and the criteria I remember was this, Income of 50,000+, age was generally about 42 and up, geographic mix was global though there were more from the US than expected.
The research was Qualitative rather than Quantitative, meaning it was focus groups and intimate rather than just filled out surveys for statistical purposes. Cutting to the chase, the consensus was If you purchase a Jaguar, you should really buy two. One to drive, while the other one is in the shop (at least amongst the americans).
I'm not as familiar with the oil pan leaking problems as you've stated, as the biggest problems were with the engines. The european participants didn't have nearly the same frequency of engine problems with the exceptions of those who lived in heavily populated areas. Turned out, the biggest flaw was this. The car was designed to be run hard and fast and here in the US or in pockets of heavily populated Europe with lower speed limits, carbon build up on the spark plugs was the man problem being experienced.
Ford Motor company eliminated the vast majority of those types of issues. Mine, considering how ungently I handle it has been remarkably reliable, dependable and free of technical/mechanical snafus. I can't speak for everyone, but my experience has been as good if not better than that of an M3, I owned, or the E55 I owned.
