I am not a fan of any phallic symbol( as i call them) on my cars. I have removed every single emblem on my past cars and replaced with a flat badge...but of course to each his own. I have however had every single person , family and workmates, who has seen the car before and after (around 15) state that the flat badge is by far, superior esthetically to the leaper.

Wow, i like the how your leaper delete / flat look came out. Im one of those guys that polish my leaper so much that it blinds people! And am pround that i finally have a jaguar coming out from the bonnet , for me its just defines the cars character. leaper... no leaper, hey its still a jag so its all good!

The leaper.
I've always liked the leaper (or the cat on the bonnet as I call it) but since I think about 1997 European legislation forbids any ornament positioned at the front of a car that could cause injury in an accident, so in the UK no more leapers!
Leedsman.
(However, if it was fitted by manuf., you're not obliged to remove it).

Jon: Going to have to repectively disagree with you on the waste of money for cosmetic purposes......a touch of uniqueness, and customization makes me . Thats always been my thing with all of my vehicles, not replacing spark plugs.
A waste of money in my opinion is a $400 Kate Spade bag that my wife decides to impulse buy and ends up sitting in her closet. A $50 Jag hood badge that you see every day on the other hand, well worth it.

To each his own as far as spending money is concerned. Some of my own rules have been developed over the decades as a result of the money my wife wastes. Somebody in the family has to maintain some level of reason. With a Masters in Economics it's in my DNA and I couldn't change that if I tried. I think I may have a total of 7 pairs of shoes and that includes two crappy pairs in the garage that I do yardwork, cut grass, and play with the dogs in. My wife probably has more than 100 pairs of shoes. How many does she regularly wear? Maybe 10 pairs. But will she donate the rest to charity for a tax deduction? Hell no, she MIGHT need them one day for some unforeseen event. Yep, she MIGHT need every single shoe she's ever bought during the last 20 years. Give me a freakin' break....

Most guys are replacing the leaper due to vandalism, usually buy a new leaper once or twice then get fed up with the hassle.
I would agree with the badge in those cases. I would do the same.
So far no problem with leaper theives. Now I've done it,the leaper will disapear because I have probably jinxed myself.

Well from an economical standpoint, I actually came out ahead. One of my reasons for replacing it was for preventative measures.
Bought badge for $50, sold leaper for $150, net profit=$100.
Piece of mind that it wont get ripped off by punk 12 yr olds or drunk 20 somethings = Priceless....

i took the "R" badges off my fenders, but left the rear one. Im on the fence if i should put them back on or not. I kinda like it without the side badges. concerning the leaper, i like it where it is at. If it gets jacked, then i will not replace it. It will get a badge like the OP did. But until then, leaper it is
