I havent driven her in like a year, it was weird firing her up. So purrrrrrrfect sounding, except the emergency brake motor. it turned my smile into a frown.
anyoe have a quick link for a source by any chance?

SOAK the old motor in WD-40, and give it about an hour, then try it again. This may take a couple tries. Also soak the cables that go to the calipers. Electrical motors don't just die sitting in storage. Corrosion is the enemy.
And in the meanwhile, welcome back buddy! Glad to see you still have the car.
Take care,
George

On a brighter note.... VW GTI???? Cool!

Anyway, i grabbed her from storage yesterday. Man for an 8 year old vehicle with 52k on the clock, she feels still new. other than the emrgency brake noise (which if you hold the switch down before removing the key it wont do it)

It lives!!! Been five months but like Jason`s, it ran again for the first time.
Okay, three flat tires (started up the compressor, problem solved).
Bought a ballast and will do Brutal`s headlight repair. (This weekend).
Bought new pads for the rear brakes (Next weekend).
She needs work and then I`ll see about what to do about her.
Nice to drive her again though...

Did you use any fuel stabilizer? I used Sta-bil and mine fired up and ran great after winter storage.

Jason, I would disc the cables off the calipers and run the motor. If you take off the connector that houses the 4 10ga wires on the Park brake module (right rear trunk)
I know you can fashion up a jumper to run the motor in.out. Jaguar has a special push button tool to do this but all youre doing is providing power and ground. the noise you hear is the motor racheting and probobly stuck cables. And long as its making that noise all is not lost. Its when it does nothing that you need a new one

Run them out first to loosen and take the cables off the rear brakes calipers. Then run them in/out afew times. If that doesnt work fully charge the battery(you know i meen a full 12.6volts with a charger set low overnight) charge with the battery disconnected from the car to reboot modules. The fact that you let the battery get weak while in storage and didnt have on a battery tender meens you may have induced your own issues into the modules. You may even want to charge and reboot first since its alot easier

ok so is there an easy way to disconnect the caliper lines? i tried running the motor out today, and no movement at all. i tried yanking the lines to see f i could get them to move, but alsa nothing. I was going to try and pry them up, but figured i would ask you first. I soaked the hell out of the connection point and spring, and where they run inside the cable.
Also when running the motor either way (reversing the polarity) it sounds like the same. Except on the opposite way the pitch changes.
