is it HID? If so it should work, But you knowthe light should still come up high enough. does it flop around inside? It may be too broken, but you can wedge a correctly sized piece of foam btween the high beam connector and housing to hold the assembly up and more stable when theyre too broken for the screw fix

So the 2005 facelift / exterior revisions didn't affect the headlights? (I'm curious, partly because I have a 2005 VDP with HID with the right side headlight needing the screw fix (current redneck fix with wood shim) and eventually the headlights will need to either be rebuilt or replaced. It'd be good to know what is compatible.)
One difference I've noticed between the later facelifted Rs and non-R headlights is the (mostly) decorative ring at the front of the headlight is darker on the Rs. I like that look. But if you put one non-R HID headlight assembly in one of the later Rs with the less chromey headlights, they wouldn't match, appearance-wise.
