Default STR Lower Control Arm Bushing

My 03 STR with 80K has a knock in the suspension. My local indie says it is a front bushing in the curved ( wishbone) "arm asssembly, rear lower control". jag parts calls this wishbone as #C2C026835 and the large bushing as C2C026267. The smaller bushing has no number.
From the Forum it seems the large bushing is unobtainable and Jag dealer says only the assembley for $675.00. The Jag Parts guy was a bit unconvenienced as he "had never sold that assembley" There were some Forum notes that this was liquid filled but mine ( Chasis M64893) looks to be solid rubber...
Is there an alternative to this ?

Jeez, I wish I had looked here before getting my new control arm. I have the 03 S type base, and the part cost almost $1000 USD, b/c it was a "special order"

George, these parts are all for the front end. I think Phil was asking about the rear end hydrabushes in the lower control arms. To my knowledge these are not obtainable.

Be sure and read this entire thread on suspension bushings. Much information but it's kind of spread out.

Default Rear Lower Control Arm Bushes Available

My local wrecker/breaker here in Melbourne has been doing lots of research on the 'cross axis' bushes only (ball joint type) in the rear arms. They tell me they have found a bush that is a suitable replacement. And have trialled and run a car with satisfactory results. There are other firms of course that have the ability to to this also as we know by reading the UK thread as mentioned by Clubairth1.
The Melbourne wrecker/firm here was honest and mentioned that they were dealing with a large group that speacialises in bushes and are sourcing then out of Taiwan. I have had a good look at them and they don't feel too bad IMHO. I don't think this quality could come out of China yet. I don't know what country the UK suppliers get theirs from. And the originals on my car only lasted 24,000miles (39,000km).
The two similar looking 'cross axis' bushes are in fact different widths from factory so a washer is required as well when mounting the arm to the wheel knuckle side, that is supplied. I will provide more photos soon of the work they have done when mine are pressed in. The narrower 'cross axis' bush fits on the subframe side along with the other adjacent rubber bush.
This other (larger of the three) rubber bush is is not currently available and is still causing us all much grief as you need to buy the whole arm. I am not even sure if you could press that larger bush in or out?
Also one thing I recently discovered about this larger bush; It differs in the Super Charged cars. It's the heavier duty looking plain rubber style bush and not the hydrabush style, to take the extra power. You would assume it would have less comfort but last longer.

I wouldn't assume the Chinese are incapable of producing high-quality parts like bushings. They will produce anything you want so long as you pay them the appropriate wherewithall. And of course they are only really interested in thousands off, if not millions.
Leedsman.
p.s. My "Revlon" hair drier is around 15 years old, made in China, and it wasn't exactly new when I acquired it. It's still working perfectly, and used every day.

Polyurethane bushings also seem way longer life span than that of rubber ones according to Wheeler Dealers . I think they should be right

My 2003 STR needs a replacement right front radius bush - it is leaking - so I presume it is the "hydrofilled" type. Which is the correct part No. for this item to order from LEMFORDER? Would I be wise to repalce both left & right while the car is off the road?

I understand you hail from NZ. Call Coventry West (Atlanta, GA.) for an affordable low mileage salvaged control arm with hydro-bushing. You don't have to replace the non-leaking side.

I'm still unsure if any of these bushes are the liquid filled units that are fitted to my 2003 STR. Can you help? Thanks.

The Lower Control arm is actually a two piece arm on your model; 'Lower Control Arm- Lateral' which is the straight one and 'Lower Control Arm- Forward' which is the larger curved one. They both have regular rubber bushes and I know the forward arm has a hydrabush as well for sure that connects to the subframe. I am 99% certain the lateral straight shape arm also has a small hydrabush that the stabilizer bar bolts to.
You need to find out which one is leaking!
PS: I have both arms NEW that I was keeping for my STR. If you are desperate I may be persuaded to part.

Excellent info. thanks. The hydrobush that is leaking is the bush on the "Lower Control Arm Forward". That is the part No. I am seeking.
Do the parts you may have available- suit my vehicle & may & email you to negotiate?

Hi Macvaty,

I have spoken to my wrecker here in Melbourne Australia and as previously mentioned he can supply and fit the rear lower hydrabushes at about $90 AUD each, 4 are needed if you have to do both arms! A little on the pricey side. About $45AUD to supply just the bush only but then I had to find someone to fit, so I asked him to do all 4 for the rear lowers. Still a world away cheaper than going to the Dealers!
The front one you need on the other hand 'Lower Control arm Forward', he does have as used complete arms from a low mileage car and I have asked him to get me a price. NOTE: I do not know anyone yet that can supply just the hydrabush for this arm on its own.
But remember sometimes the used parts are similar to buying new from a discount supplier. And they are still available new for about $350AUD.
Let me know if you need more info.

Cheers.

Thanks JYA,
I may be interested in the second hand "lower control arm forward" - what mileage has it travelled & can you confirm it will fit my 2003 S type R - I can provide the VIN No. if necessary.

Hi Macvaty, the pair I have are brand new and as I intend to keep my STR and given that there is not a fix yet on these front lower large curved arms.......But dont despair the local wrecker here is dismantling a late S Type with 30,000km on the clock and he will email me the price shortly. He thinks he may have some new ones as well he will have a look. Also dont forget as I mentioned they are still available new out of the UK for about $350AUD.

Default left lower control arm hydro bushing???

I had a similar issue just recently, if someone knows about it then maybe they can help. I heard a know while reversing and driving especially going over bumps and the local dealer told me that is is a left lower control arm hydro bushing. Does anyone have an idea about this and where i can find this part for a decent price?
