Folks:
I appreciate the various threads that provided me information to solve a misfire issue on my 2003 S-Type R. I thought it might be helpful to summarize what solved my problem and the other possible solutions I found searching and reading through many threads.
My Cat has 148,000 miles on her and has been wonderful. Since moving to Montana, I had to become DIY in order to continue enjoying my beautiful car. So I do most of the to engine work as well as brakes and have saved incredible amounts of money. This forum has been fantastic and provided a solid place to go to share ideas and get the answers I have needed. For sure, the Forum has saved me $$$$$$$ as well.
For me, the misfire began a 100 miles or so after changing my spark plugs. I have had it run poorly because of bad gas and sometimes you just have to be patient. This was different and the following codes came up:
P0305 - Cylinder 5 misfire detected
P0175 - Bank 2 system too rich
P1316 and P1000. Not sure what these codes mean as no DTC definition found in my reader
P0305 was the first code to come and has followed me through the process. Although, I tried a few things, it was changing the #5 coil that ultimately fixed the problem. She runs great.
Here are some other possible solutions if you are experiencing this issue:
1 - Change the Air Filter
2 - Clean MAF Sensor
3 - Disconnect MAF Sensor and see if there is a change
4 - Bend the female connectors on the and assure that the MAF Sensor has a secure fit.
5 - Change the MAF Sensor (I did this and it didn't fix my problem)
6 - Remove the spark plug for the identified cylinder and see if the plug is fouled. (oil on it probably means that there is a leak from valve cover and gasket may have to be replaced. Maybe change spark plug seals while you are in there.)
7 - Replace the coil for the identified cylinder. Someone suggested switching coils with another cylinder and see if the misfire changes location. If so, you know it is a bad could and replace. I decided to buy a new coil and just replace it. Cost me $79 for the OEM jaguar part.
8 - Change Fuel Filter. Same for P0175
9 - Put fuel system cleaner in your gas tank and run it through. same for P0175
10 - Possible weak fuel pump. Same for P0175
Other suggestions I found for threads discussing P0175.
-Bank 2 is on drivers side
-Could be upstream 02 sensor
-Could be upper intake gasket leak. Someone suggested buying a cheap fog machine ($30) and connecting it to the upper intake with a hose and looking for a leak there. There may be a vacuum leak somewhere else.
That is all I have and hopefully, you find this helpful in your troubleshooting and solve your issue.
For sure I am not a mechanic and if any of the forum experts with like to provide corrections or additions to this thread, I am sure that they will make this even more helpful. I very much appreciate these folks and thank them for their awesome assistance.
Have fun and long live our cats!

The workshop manual (free download) has meanings and all causes of codes such as P1316 & P1000. This forum's Search will also get you info on those.
Just the codes info is part of the manual but also separately on JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
