It's really lounder?
OK, so the idea is to insulate the intake tract from heat soak correct?
Any ideas on whether anything should also be done to the air filter box?
Something I've always wondered about is those plastic covers on the intercoolers. Do they serve any functional purpose? It doesn't seem like they do but I may be missing something.

HOLY COW!
The sound hmmm, you can hear the blower plain as day windows up radio volume on 12. It sounds very intimidating. it started raining so I didnt get to lay on it, but it sounds awesome.
The powdercoated one is behind schedule the PC'er had a death in the family so it wont be done for a while, but its getting textured black on the outside and smooth on the inside. it will look 100% OEM

We made the tube as straight as possible for best airflow. The lack of silencer chambers does create a hissing at idle and you can hear the blower in it's natural environment since those chambers are tuned to the frequency that cancels the whine.
Mind you I'm still running stock paper filter. Although we are looking at a company that's similar to k&n but outperforms in cfms and more important is a dry filter

Once the filter arrives it's dyno time although this one isn't powder coated it has produced some impressive data so far.
So far for the driving test (mind with v1 all tests were static aka stand still)
The 40% drop raised just a hair on the driving tests 30% drop on non powercoated.
Here is the most impressive figure. I drive to my parents once a week 50 mile round trip I average 19 mpg using average mpg trip computer reset in my driveway make the trip keep it on cruise at 70mpg. Yes there are alot hills and such so 19mpg is decent with a 1/2 tank of gas.
Today with a full tank made the same trip recreating same speed excatly the same driving habit and guess what...
25.8 mpg average. While I know it's not super accurate and gallons out/miles driven=mpg.
I started with the same parameters using the same scale (trip computer)

Oh this is only the beginning, I'm trying to find a donor blower with the throttle body and intake primary ( the black part over the blower) so I see if we might benefit from porting and polishing. I have a machinist with a flow bench on stand by, to see if what porting can be done on the intake side and something similar steigmiegers port and regear. I really need to get a motor apart (head section) and compare the gasket openings to the metal.
I smell a full motor build (blue printed and balanced) in the the future.
I guess project rear-end is off to the back burner. <--- more on that later.
