Default STR radiator repair or replacement

I have a leak in the main radiator on the the bottom right hand corner (passenger side). It's weeping under a metal tab over plastic on the very bottom edge down by the corner.

Can it be repaired? If not does anyone have instructions on how to remove and replace this radiator? I have sourced a radiator at Rockauto. It doesn't look like a fun job completed in a few hours.

I don't have JTIS since I replaced my computer with a new one that has Windows 7 64bit. Can anyone point in the right direction to download and make it work with this operating system?

Appreciate any help and/or comments...

I've never done an STR's radiator, but it sounds like the typical behr / nissens euro radiator like my past BMW's used that separates where the metal meets the plastic. Unfortunately it happens with repeated heat cycles. I wouldn't advise you to repair it but rather replace it. I can print / attach the jtis procedure for you if you need it.

Let me know.

Thanks,

George

I would recommend replacing the radiator as well.

Radiator replaced. Purchased at Gaudin Jaguar for $337. This repair is not for the faint hearted. Use the JTIS as a guide as you will run into a number of issues not spelled out.

There are no aftermarket radiators for the S Type unless you have a manual transmission. They all lack the important transmission cooler and they don't tell you that and list them for everything up to the STR. Cheap but won't work...

If anyone is interested I will write up a crib sheet with no pictures. I was up to my butt in parts, fluids and self inflicted abrasions to bother with a magic instrument like a camera. Suppose I coulda hired a camera crew but the language and antics were clearly X-rated.

Total time to do this job was 12hrs including garage cleanup, navel gazing and "she who must be obeyed" complaining about losing her side of the garage for a couple of days.

Advice worth exactly what ya paid for it...

12 hours?? That's a serious repair!

Thanks for reporting back. The STR has so many coolers and radiators with hoses. I don't want to do it and thankfully it seems to be pretty rare problem right now.
