Default STR Rear Wheels?

I'm a Jag Forum newbie and have a 2007 S Type R with factory 18" Vulcan wheels. Have some vibration in the car and went to reputable "high end" tire and wheel tire that I been doing business for about 8 years.
They said that I have 3 bent wheels - one being a wheel I replaced 2 years ago because it was bent.
I don't "beat" the car and rather than buy 3 new wheels from the dealer thought about spending the money toward a nice set of aftermarket wheels but have run into the same problem that others have after sear hinge the forum - no one makes 18 x 9.5 wheels for the rear without going to custom wheels at $1000/wheel.

So I'm wondering if anyone has tried the front 18 x 8 on the back?
This way I could go with a good quality aftermarket for 1/2 the dealer price of new wheels.

Will it clear the brake caliper?
How will it affect the handling and ride?

I think the 275/35 tires on the back will fit on the 8" wheels.
I have fairly new Michelins and don't want to buy new tires to upgrade to 19" wheels.

Thanks,

Hi. I don't know if they will fit the rear...probably clear the caliper. Grab your jack and stands and go give it a try.

Road force balancing can help kinda hide a slightly bent wheel. 3 of em though I don't know. How bad is this vibration? Ruled out other things? Maybe second opinion would be worthwhile.

Vibration is not bad, car rides pretty good but I'm picky and want it to ride great. Had the road force balancing which might have helped just a little bit - but was also thinking about that 2nd opinion too.

How could 275s fit on 8" rims? No chance, surely.

But also, why would anyone put narrower wheels on the rear? Just say no

You might find a shop willing to shoehorn those tires on 8" rims, but it wouldn't look right and it wouldn't perform right. You'll probably experience sloppy handling when the sidewalls roll over the rim a bit on cornering.

I can understand being picky about vibration, I'm the same way. I guess it comes down to the "how picky can I afford to be" question - because your best bet is probably new OEM wheels or maybe you can luck out and find a couple straight used ones from a salvage yard or wheel refinishing specialist. Or drop some real money for a set of customs.

I just looked at www.car-part.com they are showing several wrecker wheels, most of the boneyards will ship.

Can you just get your wheels repaired? They can fix a great amount of damage these days. I got my Vulcans chromed and it was a trade in deal. When I returned my stock rims they told me and charged me that 3 of them were bent. I had no vibration or any other sign.

I had a bent wheel fixed on my bmw for $100 and it was as good as new. I'd go that route first.

Are you going to be selling your vulcans then since you said you're looking into aftermaket wheels? I'd be interested.
