Well...the idle feels a little rougher than usual I guess. Would that have anything to do with this? I wouldn't think so...but don't know.

I guess it could just be the fact that it has been 100 plus degrees for several days here and the car is working harder to keep cool while the A/C is blasting. I dunno.

But as far as acceleration goes, I can't tell any difference...it still hauls *** and has that annoying (but normal) supercharger whine when you gun it. The noise is still only audible at idle.

Shop is booked...still waiting for a time slot to get in for the repairs. Grrr. I just want the damn thing fixed!

That depends on whether or not you want to get laid.

Mustang = Guy who's trying too hard to impress ladies but has no clue how to do it.

Jaguar = Guy who doesn't need to try because he's got options.

Yeah,
For some that may be true. I'm already married and have loved the 03/04 cobra since I was in high school, it's been a car I've admired for a while. The wife hates it because she says it's a "teenager car" but the cobra is not a teenager car.

You can get either car for about the same money. For me I'd rather have a cobra. STR wouldn't be a bad second option though. I'd actually really like a cts-v but my problem would be wanting a warranty with either one. Besides that the wife wouldn't ever want to drive the cobra, the jag would be a different story.

Update:

STR went into the shop yesterday morning. Upon further diagnosis, they have determined that the sound is originating from within the supercharger...bearings are shot. Nothing wrong with the coils. They are pulling it out and replacing with a brand new one. In the meantime, I've got a Mini Cooper as a loaner....fun little car....keyword LITTLE. lol.

Hope they fix it right the first time. You deserve a break given all you've been through with this car. Keep us posted....

I can't help but wonder if you've set a repair cost total expenditure figure in your mind where you say "that's it, I'm done, this STR is outta here"....

Default Supercharger separate warranty

Isn't the supercharger considered an emissions item and covered for 7 years/ 75K. I thought I read this in the owner's maintenance manual.

If so - should be a no charge for replacement.

Good Luck,
Eric

Default coolant expansion joint

I just replaced one on my 2005 str. go to discountbodyparts.com there 120 plus tax free shipping. I changed the part myself. not that hard just alot of patience on the lower big hose. the 2 top one are easy, and the sensor unplug and plugs right back in. on the coolant itself, its the red versions and they dont sell it at an autoparts store, and the str requires 5 to 6 quarts. Its 20 bucks a quart. or you can drain the coolant and put regular coolant. but i recommend the red coolant, that str runs very hot, the 2 coolant dont mix. good luck

DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT COOLANTS !!!! Getting the proper coolant it is not hard. You DO NOT need to get special antifreeze but you do need to get the correct coolant!!!! It is available at any parts store. The coolant must meet Ford/Jaguar spec WSS-M97B44-D. Look on the label and it will tell you if it does.
I got Prestone Dex-Cool. It is orange and meets the above specs. A very common coolant!!

The sts is nice but I would want a manual tranny and good gas mileage. The 1st gen ctsV gets 25mpg hwy, not bad for a 400hp sedan.

Got the car back with a new supercharger. Seems to be back to normal now. *Knock on wood* Warranty covered everything but the $100 deductible.

Damn it felt good to throw that bill in their face. The warranty just paid for itself. Finally.

It doesn't take too long for a warranty to pay for itself. The key is to remember you have the thing! That's what the companies bank on other than the car not having failures! That or losing the paperwork for the warranty!

Sorry to sound a bit rough here, but only a moron would spend thousands of dollars on an extended warranty and then forget he has it or loses the paperwork. Anybody who does either one shouldn't be driving....

Default coolant

for the cheap seats. DO NOT USE COOLANT THAT DOES NOT COME FROM JAGUAR. it cost me the wiring harness. 289.00 the engine bay was twice as hot as the jaguar coolant. 401. for replace ment of dccv that was connnect to the wiring harness. coolant flush. since the car was at the dealer, i had a proper coolant flush. 17 9.oo. bill cane to 1180.oo withmy 20% discount. it was a difference of the extra 45 dollars or for being cheap a 1000.00 so once again DO NOT USE AFTERMARKET COOLANT........................................... .......:ic on_doh::ic on_doh::ic on_doh::ic on_doh:

Default Use Proper Coolant!!!

That is totally and completely WRONG!!!!!! You must use the PROPER coolant but you can get it at ANY parts store. Please get informed and buy the correct stuff!!!

For my 2005 STR it MUST meet Ford WSS-M97B44-D specifications. Look on the bottle at the small print it will list all the standards that the coolant meets. This is plain old Dex-Cool. I use the Prestone brand. Your owners manual will give this information. Be aware that dealers are often the problem and insist on a certain coolant with out really knowing the correct answer!!

Also consider a thermostat change at the same time.
