Default STR tuning software:

Hey guys, I have a guy who tunes here in my town with a Dyno! I currently have an 07 STR with Mina exhaust & Caldoofy intake. I will most likely put on a pulley as well. However I'm looking for anyone with software who has had a tune with similar mods. And hopefully eliminate fuel cut!

Where are you experiencing fuel cut?

Do the pulley. Do a baseline dyno run. Then have him tune it.

Only 'tune' i know of that's been documented on this forum, is the eurocharged ECU tune i did on my STR... there's a thread to check out...

Fuel cut hits at 130mph..... Sucks cause the car pulls so hard and I walk camaros till fuel cut hits then they blow right by me..... I have heard some STR's are good to 155 and others are governed at 130

I just checked out Eurocharged website and they don't even show the S Type on it for tunes or power packages.......

Ah- you're talking about the factory governor. Never heard it referred to as a 'fuel cut'.

You'd imagine putting in the software for one of the other regions (UK etc) would be an easy workaround.

With clone Mongoose it's even DIY isn't it?

Hmm 130mph huh... I haven't had a chance to test mine out to that sort of speeds, but I think the eurocharged tune removes the limiter...

As JagV8 mentioned, maybe flashing the ECU with updated software from another region might lift the limiter to 155 at least...

Contact a local or closest Eurocharged distributor, their website may not list the STR, but I can confirm they do in fact have options for our cars... The main guy behind all their tunes, Jerry, personally handled my flash.

No fuel cut and the STR will indeed hit 155 MPH.

There is more as we have been told they possibly could go as high as 172 mph stock with the speed limiter removed but we really don't know.

This is one of the big draw backs to the STR as a performance car. Little to no mods.

To override the limiter simply get to 155 and shift from D into 5, you can do 167mph on the speedo at 5250rpm in 5th gear and it will still be pulling slowly (even in stock form). Don't ask me how I know though The lack of ecu tuning options on these cars is annoying though

Problem is I can't get past 130! Or are you saying if I'm in 5th gear the governer will be disabled?

I'm not sure with US cars but it definitely works over here where the limiter is set to 155mph. I think the limiter is only active in D so it'll probably bypass it if you put it in 5. Be safe if you must try it!

Tried in in 5th gear and no luck..... Damn this is frustrating!

Sorry to hear it didn't work, US cars must have the limiter set-up differently to UK ones? It's a shame because the STR really gets into its stride at those speeds pulling very easily past 150mph and doing so silently. I'm pretty sure mine would max out the speedo now in 5th, given how it managed 167mph stock without too much trouble.

Well I have been in contact with Phillip from Eurocharged! He says they have a tune for our cars that will indeed raise the speed limiter as well as add 50 to 60 horsepower. Not sure I believe that much power will come from a tune? Anyone have this tune or can chime in about this? I was thinking maybe 10 to 15 horsepower with a tune....

The tuning companies drive me nuts because they usually don't do a baseline pull and then ONLY quote the power increase with a pulley and exhaust. We need to see the deltas before spending $$$$$, and need to see it per modification.

Hope he can remove the limiter for you and looking forward to the results if you do decide to go for it. Unfortunately, as rasputin mentions, dyno data of STR tuning is slim to none therefore it is almost impossible to verify any gains before investing. When I was in contact with Paramount performance last year about a tune they said I could expect around a 30bhp gain but they had no before/after runs on the dyno. This was enough to dissuade me as surely expert Jaguar tuners, if anyone, would have the capacity to provide this if such gains were possible.

^^^ Yup, I noticed that as well, and one of my original criticisms of their claims...

With that said, check out my before and after testing with the Eurocharged tune, search, or click the link in my sig for a thread that includes a link to the eurocharged testing thread...

Spoilers: Gained about 10-15whp...
