You can almost always reuse gaskets and the like if you check whether their condition is good (for rubber ones, still rubbery LOL). Few exceptions (head gaskets, proceed with caution!).
They should be fine. Check they're not damaged at all and see if you can get them to go back in place, seated just as they were. By gentle with them rather than forcing them (not saying you would force them).

I would replace the upper and lower manifold gaskets, even with the "low" mileage on them. I believe that they are the collapsible type, atleast the lowers are.
I am not an expert on this but I would be safe than sorry.
If it were the MY2003 and up, it would be plausible to reuse with just over 1,200 miles on them.
Fel-Pro offers after markets that are reasonably priced at any BIG box auto parts store.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
I will be getting my parts and such from Autopartsway, so I can get 1 lower and 1 upper gasket for about 40$( a bit less) for the set.
I might as well order them, wouldn't want to have to do the job twice.
To confirm, i only need 1 upper and 1 lower, correct?
These are 3 of the parts I am ordering and going to be replacing,

EDIT, I also am planning on pulling and clearing the codes to see which of them pop up again, and see once the work is done, if any re-appear.

great info, thank you, I will order 4 gaskets.
So I finally pulled the codes,
P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
P1386 Variable Cam Timing Overadvanced (Bank #2)
P1388 Variable Cam Timing Overretarded (Bank #2
I cleared them, going to take it shopping tomorrow and see what happens.

Thanks for the link, when I searched it was the thread that I read up on the 1386/88 codes in, not of huge concern righ know, I might throw a quart of ATF before I change the oil.
I am running the recommended 5W30 synthetic oil, maybe next time I will try 10W30.
What has me concerned is the p0420, I am thinking it might be the post cat o2.
Edit: i drove the car, the 1386/88 codes immediately came back when the car was started and ran for a few minutes. It still had the rough idle. I am thinking it isn't a vacuum line but perhaps the VVT?
I mean i think it still a good idea to order the parts and replace them, but not sure that'll resolve the issue.

Do you need to replace both upper and lower gaskets? I got my lower gaskets (from RockAuto), but they didn't list lower ones. uhmmm..

G'day all,
just wanted to give you folks an update!
SOooo, yesterday I attempted to put the many parts I purchased..well...on the car..
I was successfully able to remove the intake. I took my time and was able to make note of where all the bolts and hoses go. As I removed the intake I noticed that the shop which had just done the plugs and coils hadn't even replaced the upper intake gaskets when they removed the intake manifold. Anyway,
as I removed it, I got very overwhelmed when I looked at the lower manifold, so I decided to try the IMT O rings only to begin with. I just wasnt prepared to pull all the extra stuff to get to the L vacuum hose as I do not have any of the symptoms for it to have gone wrong.
Anyway, after I cleaned it up and put the new GREEN O-rings to replace the old YELLOW O rings, my problem improved. Seems to not have disappeared completely, but a drastic improvement is an improvement. Sooo, it wasn't as scary as it seemed.

Rough idle when cold
Giving as much detail as i can. I have a 2002 jaguar s-type v6 roughly 158,000+ miles and the car will idle rough. It does it in the morning and if the car has been sitting still for a while (temperature plays a part). I have had a tune up (spark plugs changed(not cheap ones), oil changed, valve cover gasket changed, did a gas treatment, cleaned the throttle body, replaced bank 2 vvt solenoid, both catalytic converts changed, coil packs (need to replace 1 p0304). Yes its a lot but it was not done all at once . When codes come up I jump on the problem right away. I am at a lost of what else could be going on. This morning it rough idled and the battery light flashed several times and the car was acting as if it wanted to cut off but then it revs back up.
Any thoughts.
