Success! S-Type Key and Remote Cut/Programmed

The unlock button on my wife's 2007 S-Type remote quit working, so I bought a new remote off of ebay to fix hers. After taking the panic button off of the new remote and using it to replace the unlock button on hers, I was left with a new "switchblade" remote and uncut key.
I then found a bargain 2003 S-Type in nice shape that only had one key. No remote. I figured I'd get the extra one cut and programmed for my 03.
No such luck in Austin. The dealership said they couldn't cut keys and wouldn't program remotes other than the ones they sell. A "switchblade" key with remote would cost $625.00 and they'd have to order it from Jaguar since they can't cut keys.
I tried several local locksmiths and repair shops, including a shop I used before on my wife's Jag and nobody could help. The place that programmed my wife's keys no longer services Jaguar.
I decided to have the key cut by some folks who cut my wife's spare keys and have the transponders programmed elsewhere eventually. I called the "Austin Key Guy" (yes, that's the company name) and one of them met me in Austin (about 20 minutes away). He cut the key as before, but his software had been updated since he cut my wife's keys. He was able to program the transponder and remote this time.
So I now have a working "switchblade" key, remote and the spare key and it only cost $95.00. (The key/remote was an additional $45.00 on ebay.) Happy camper here!
So if anyone needs a key or remote cut/programmed in the Austin area, give them a shout.
