Default Supercharge belt, ribbed, or un ribbed for your pleasure?

So my supercharger belt has ribs on both sides of it. I remember reading a technical bulletin, which changed out the flat sided belt with ribs on one side to the dual ribs belt. But I haven’t been able to find the tech paper about the belt since I first saw it. in any case I bought a new supercharger and it l ooks like a nice quality belt (continental I believe), it’s only ribbed on one side

Will it be OK or do I need to dual ribs belt?

Jaguar did issue a superseded part.

The dual sided belt required a different pulley setup as part of the 'upgrade'.(2 ribbed pulleys (idler/tensioner) instead of one ribbed, one flat)
Here is the earlier TSB.

Hmmmmm. Im pretty sure ive got a ribbed tensioner pulley and a flat idler pulley. The flat idler pulley rides on the outside of the belt so does that mean I can use the one sided ribbed belt, or am I supposed to get a two sided ribbed out with a ribbed tensioner and ribbed idler pulley ?

The double sided belt should be C2C37055.

I doubt it will hurt to use a flat pulley with a double sided belt.

Yeah, I don’t think that situation would hurt at all. That’s the way it was when I got the car.

problem is, I now have a single-sided belt that I just purchased. I’m wondering if I should use the single sided belt with my ribbed tensioner, but flat idler pulley. Or if I should go and get a double-sided belt.

Do you live where it gets cold? That's the only time I have heard it?
I am in the deep South so only a few somewhat cold days but my old 2005 STR made enough noise on cold start up that because at that time I was under warranty I took it in and complained. Got all the new stuff installed along with the doubled sided ribbed belt. The car never made another noise when cold.

Kinda expensive to do yourself as there is a number of parts to change out listed in the TSB.

I guess I should check my stuff before I start talking a bunch of nonsense.

The belt that I thought went to the Jaguar went to my hellcat, and it only has grooves on one side. I found that out when I went to look at the actual set up on the Jag, and noticed that the belt I was holding was much wider than the jaguar supercharger belt

So the belt that I got for the Jaguar is double grooved.

but both the idle pulley and the tensioner pulley for the supercharger belt are smooth. I took some pictures to show you and it looks like they’re both grooved. But they are only looking like that because those are the marks left on the smooth pulleys from the grooved belt.

I cannot find attention or for the supercharger or an idle pulley for the supercharger to save my life. Anybody have any clues where to get one?

I thought I got the idle pulley from Rock Auto, but this pulley that I got has edges on either side of here the belt rides. the pulley that are on my car are completely flat - with no edges or grooves.

which is supposed to be there? grooved with no edges? grooved with edges? no grooves no edges?. I don’t know.

I thought it made sense to replace my old belt with a brand new 8dpk1355 (gates or dayco, if i remember correct it was gates). It has been slipping when revving over 4500 rpm ever since, especially when in sport. Very annoying.
Also looking for a better alternative. I bought the 10% Mina pulley but wasn't able to install it due to the bs belt. I asked them for a correct replacement belt, they made me wait A LONG TIME and at the end of the day they sent me a single side grooved belt. Facepalm.exe

it does help. I need the part numbers so I can get the tensioner pulley (at a minimum). I couldnt find a tensioner for the supercharger let alone a ribbed pulley. Im assuming that tensioner pulley is ribber (it looks like it is) The replacement oulley I hot has the same edges as the one you show but no grooves.

the idler pulley looks smooth. Is it different than the original or just new?

like I said, both my pulleys on both the tensioner and idler are smooth.

ive got the 10% pulley on mine as well. But the belt part number is different. I believe its was 8dpk1325. Not 1355. But it’s strange because Rock Auto list both of those numbers as belts for the supercharger and when you look at the specs, almost the same. I think the 1355 is slightly longer by a fraction of an inch

edit: I just looked. Rock auto lists the 1325 and a different belt (not 1355) both from continental. Heres what they list for supercharger

belts.

So what I did a year and a half ago, back when I changed my belt, was to search for the C2C37055 motorcarman posted above and I found out, it was 1355 long.

I always feared that 1325 was too short, but I could give it a try if you say it worked for you.

The tensioner I went with was T36270 from Gates I believe. Couldn't find anything better back then.

here are part numbers right off the invoice. I just went to look at my car and it does have ribbed on tensioner and smooth idler. The part numbers are still good but i am finding the idler ribbed and tensioner smooth. Not like the drawing or my car. Maybe part of the fix is if the pulleys are interchangeable. I dont know

I think you got all the right numbers?
Attached is the TSB I used when the dealer upgraded the FEAD stuff. No diagrams only part numbers listed.

perfect! Now I just have to cross these Jag numbers to regular part numbers and I’m all set. I wonder if that flanged idler pulley that I have is the flanged pulley they’re talking about for the accessory drive belt idler it looks like.

it would fit

interesting that they don’t use grooved pulleys on boats since there’s grooves on both sides. Maybe with the grooves on both sides they can be tracking issue. Ya probably if both sides of the belt are grooved then it could get off tracking if both the pulley and the idler are grooved because it would be sending different grooves as its swapping sides of the belt (inside to outside) as it rounds both pulleys

I think the c2s46862 is the ribbed replacement pulley for the tensioner update. I think there is light at the tunnel for you on this job finally
