Default Supercharger Removal-Gaskets

I will be swapping my supercharger and it seems like it's a huge job?? I don't know if all the gaskets are one time use only?? The picture below shows the "bellows" that go between the supercharger and the intercooler. It's item number 4 (AJ86892 about $40 each). Do these need to be changed??

I will also change the hose under the supercharger with all the failures that started showing up! Hose is AJ89746 about $20.

Default Supercharger removal - gaskets

Hi Clubairth 1; Guess maybe I'm a little ahead of you. The dealer gave me a list of parts they would replace if I had let them replace my ruptured water hose, but I'm not sure this is all I need. I found a good deal at the Jaguar Parts Center in Kansas City. Just google jaguarpartscenter.

Here's the list:
(hope I'm attaching the list right)

I'm not sure whether the air cooler plenums need to be removed (I don't think so). If they do, the gaskets for them is not included in the list and I'd have to special order them if needed. More later. I will not begin this repair till July 12th weekend. I have a neighbor (retired) who builds vehicles and appears to be able to do almost anything who has agreed to help me (woo hoo). More later.

There's nothing quite like having a retired neighbor who spent a great deal of time working in the automotive industry and has every tool known to man. I've got a neighbor like that as well, and he (and his vast array of tools) has saved my butt several times when I've been stuck underneath a vehicle in the middle of a tough job....

ttwotees;
Your parts list does show these two "bellows" being replaced. That was my original question.
Part #AJ86892-You got a better price than I did at $33.15 each!

Thanks for posting that!

It matches quite well to the list of parts changed on a UK STR (so, prices in GBP):

seal-thermostat NCA2246BA 3.55
antifreeze red JLM 20972/3 28.93
gasket AJ8 3445 5.69
hose-heater AJ8 9746 11.79
seal-water O C2C 11477 *2 6.55ea
gasket AJ8 3292 7.46
seal-outlet NCC7735BA 35.52
seal-duct AJ8 6892 *2 28.44ea
plug-blankin XR8 2652 *7 2.45ea

Thanks jagV8!!

Still a few details to be worked out??

Gasket AJ8-3445 Where does this go? Not on other lists? Called a throttle body gasket.

Seal-C2C-11477 this is also on ttwotees list but I don't know where it goes? ttwotees list has one of these but the UK list has 2?? Found it! It's a o-ring in the cooling system. Only see one and not two? Not sure these need changed?

plug-blanking-XR8-2652-UK list says 7 of these?? Not on any other list? Found out this one-Plastic covers over the cowl screws. This is where several people have had water get thru and throw the car into limp home mode..

You're very welcome. I was pleased to see the list on the UK site (thanks, busterbulldog) but the work was done by a jag dealer so all we have is the list. I've no idea where the various parts go, sorry

Some won't need changing - this is true of most gaskets, O rings etc. If they come off undamaged and are still in good condition (e.g. springy/spongey for O rings) then you can reuse them BUT if it's a PITA to take apart and they're cheap then change them

The part names are not always er..... helpful.

If you have access to JEPC you may be able to figure out more of the parts. Let me know if you get stuck but I don't have it so will have to hunt online etc. I'm not unwilling, so don't feel you'd be asking anything unreasonable. (Heck, I could have this problem myself at some point.... sigh)

Thanks Tbird6: The "bellows" between the blower outlets and the air cooler plenums (intercoolers) does need to be changed. I was referring to the gaskets betweek the plenums and the heads, but I've since found out they plenums do not need to be removed and can stay in place. As I maike my repair, I will note any gaskets that must be replaced and post them. I will have some additional time to order them while my blower is getting the "Snake Bite kit".

Good deal!! Because I am doing the same thing. Between the two of us we can get a solid parts list with correct part numbers and approximate prices. One good thing about Jaguar is you may pay a high price BUT they seem to keep parts in production. I had a 1993 SHO and the Yamaha based engine parts are almost all obsolete. With the low production numbers of the STR I shudder to think what would happen if parts supplies dried up!!! I was worried when Tata purchased Jaguar but I can't detect any changes so I guess it will be OK??

You won't have much time because Stiegemeier quoted me a 3 day turn around on the Snakebite package!!
