Hey, Bfsgross. I currently have 2 1/4 inch piping with Magnaflow X-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers into Borla 4" tips. Also Mafioso style intake made out of silicone couplings and adapters with K&N filter. I don't have the Cats installed. Few months ago I purchased High flow cats and took them to get installed to couple muffler shops, and basically was discouraged that they wouldn't work and got quoted like $450 just for labor. Sounds wise, its not too bad inside. When the vehicle is cold, the exhaust sounds deeper and high strung. Very slight drone, around 3-4k rpms the sound is not as refined, but I can live with that. My last vehicle was 2001 BMW 540i, 6 speed with muffler delete only, with a pipe extension with tips, and that was very, very good sounding V8. I still miss that sound. But that was the most unreliable vehicle I ever had.

03jagg, sorry to hear the exhaust shop discouraged you in installing hi-flow cats. Their installation is fairly straight forward and without complications. Use the forum search tool to review the many threads with pics on this topic. Throttle response is noticeably improved and you'll recieve approx. 10 chp. All the STR owners who have done this purchased Magnaflow hi-flow cats for $85/each and installation was $200+.

I had a 01 540/6 with a flowmaster muffler on it that sounded pretty good. As far as the test pipes go, they are most likely too loud for the majority of the jaguar crowd. Right now the only restriction in my exhaust is the factory resonator that is before the mufflers. So I almost have straight pipes now. I plan on replacing my factory cats on my other pipes and swapping them back in at some point.

I will get some video of my current setup unless it snows this weekend. My current setup is: Magnaflow 99675HM cats, Magnaflow 10790 x-pipe, Magnaflow 10415 mufflers right behind the x-pipe (acting more like resonators), then straight-piped from there with no mufflers. Its definitely LOUD (think old muscle car). I was straight-piped from the x-pipe back for a week or two, but it was so loud it was not drivable. I'm considering a Mina axle-back or something, but probably won't do anything until next spring as it will sit most or all of the winter.
