Default Theory I'm working on our MAFs

So I'm in the auto parts business and I'm pretty good at interchanging numbers. Our OEM mass air flow sensors are made by Denso. Denso made a lot of OEM mass air flow sensors for Toyota and Volvo and those used the same mass air flow sensors that Land Rover and Jaguar did. So after some research it looks like the Denso 197-6020 is the same mass air flow sensor for our jaguars requiring c2s2670. Now if you type in the Jaguar or Land Rover OEM number on Densos website It does not bring up the 197-6020. Although if you type in Toyota and Volvo's numbers it does.

If you look at the Delphi mass air flow sensors. One mass air flow sensor does all of these OEM numbers. It's the same thing with a carquest. It meets Jaguar Toyota Lexus Mazda and Land Rover.

So it's possible that if this is correct and which I'm going to buy this part and put it on my car. We can get OEM mass air flow sensors for less than 70 bucks brand new. we'll definitely keep you guys informed but here are their numbers that are original mass airflow sensors interchange with.

Interesting (though they hardly ever seem to need replacing - cleaning, yes, sometimes).

I'm actually getting two Denso part numbers.
197-6020. And 197-6030. It's possible that Denso changed the part numbers like they do with spark plugs every so often.

its also possible that they are calibrated slightly differently which would make a huge difference

I'm hoping you will be able to see if all the parameters are correct...not just idle and full throttle..there must be a linear curve programmed into the PCM.

Back in February 2017 when I was attempting to diagnose a P0171 / P0174 issue with my wife's 2006 XK8, some of us in the XK8 section of the forum determined that the official Denso 197-6030 MAF sensor was indeed the correct unit for the 4.2 engine in that vehicle. I found a new one on amazon.com for about $65 and ordered it. The problem turned out to be a slight air leak due to hardened-and-seeping VVT solenoid O-ring seals (a known problem with the 4.2 engine) and a new pair of O-ring seals corrected the issue immediately. So I kept the new Denso 197-6030 MAF sensor as a spare. Before I stored it on my garage shelves, I ran it in my wife's XK8 for about 200 miles to ensure that it indeed performed properly. It did. I then decided to test it in my 2005 S-Type 3.0 (which I sold in May 2018). It performed properly in that vehicle's 3.0 engine as well. So I can definitively state that an official Denso 197-6030 MAF sensor is correct. Just make sure you do not buy one of the cheap Chinese knock-offs that are all over the internet for $12 to $15....

Follow-up note: Neither of our Jaguars is an R version. The XKR and STR may utilize a different Denso MAF sensor so do your research before you decide to order....
