The car will adapt to your driving style in fairly short order. No need to reboot.

If the reboot doesn't work I'll try the update. Any idea the cost of the update?

The reboot will have no effect on the lurch, you need the updated software.

No idea of today's cost and wonder why the present owner didn't have it taken care back when it was free under warranty.

sorry i mist that this car you are looking at has the lurch , i thort you were just being awear of this to look for issues when inspecting it ! in this case no the reboot will not fix the lurch infact many have found the update to also not work, and some have been more lucky, have also read that in some cases the second or third ref lash done the trick, some cases result in a new torque converter to solve this issue! the soft wear up date cost me $300nzd , you have to leave the car over night as can only be performed cold! witch is a bugger for me as the dealer is 400km away from me so factor in some accommodation if you have the same issue !
some good info at Jaguar S-Type Ownership Experience - The ZF LURCH Fault
must be pretty common to have its own website

You can check it. But it's a pain as there's no dipstick. Procedure is on the net / youtube / this site / etc.

Sometimes the update cures the lurch. It's just a software change, dealers charge what they like but $50-100 usually.

Sometimes a fluid change cures it.

Sometimes the cause is that the fluid is low!

Sounds like the car is due a change anyway at that mileage. DIY if you like.

JagV8 is correct regarding potential causes and cures. Many cars (mine included) have had all the updates and troubleshooting yet still 'luch' on occasion. I've just learned to drive around it.

The torque converter issue mentioned further up is separate and not related to 'the lurch' in any way.

k, upon the drive home with the car I noticed a vibration at 70mph coming from the rear of the car. Its definitely a bearing. I don't think it's coming from the transmission.
