Default For those intrested in tunning the PCM

I have been fortunate enough to possibly get my hands on the software to get into the PCM's

I'll know more here in the next couple weeks.

A quick question though:
Where is the PCM on the 03 STR? I need to get the codes off the barcode on the PCM to validate the software.

This is purely experimental Im pretty excited about this.

I should be able to change all paramaters in the PCM.

Is it WDS or IDS or what?

Don't you need special hardware, too?

jtis says where it is - see the Electrical Guide under "Control Module Location". It looks to be about where a passenger's right foot would be (but higher than that I think, maybe nearer the knee?). I expect the other parts of jtis say how to remove/install a PCM.

You may need to put back the factory calibration to pass I/M (if they've implemented the plan to check it).

its an interface used to communicate with Ford PCM's from 1986 to 2006.
From what I've been told from a resource it will talk to the jaguar PCM's.

Im getting a laptop and the interface box shipped to me. Its suppose to be used R&D PCM changes.

I know Im being very vague but I dont want to get anyones hopes up nor I want to get my resource into any trouble for having that type of access to modules.

If you need to remove it you need to unscrew the PCM (ECU ECM or whatever ;-) from the engine bay. You need to remove the cabin air filter box, and then you need a special 5 star torx bit with also a hole in it, not sure what the size is, but without you will not be able to unscrew the cable loom.

It can be kept in the car, not sure what bus it uses, WDS IDS. because all adjustments are being done on the laptop realtime while plugged into the OBDII port.

It worked pretty well although a little criptic since the tables are all hex in the PCM.

For the tuning it indeed doesn't have to be removed, the obdii connection is enough, however I am just not sure if you will be able to read all the bar code info, therefore I thought I give you the info on what you need to do to remove it.

What sort of software do you have, is it software that enables you to read/write data to the PCM?

Or do you also have the information on what data resides where in memory, and what values you can change it to?

Here is a picture of the ECM. Sorry it does not show any part numbers or codes. Yes it has two bolts and looks exactly like all the other Ford PCM's I have removed in the past. Like others have said it's on the firewall on the passenger side of the car if LHD.

That may be an 05+ PCM. The originals are similar (but a bit different) and the redesign ones are also similar but different again.

The 03 (X202) ones I've seen have the label on the narrow end opposite (furthest from) the connector. You see them on ebay sometimes. Label along the lines of:
2R83-10K975-BE X202 / MB079700-9043 / 009043 Denso Spain 12V

Your software should be able to read the current calibration details (CALID, CVN etc).

It's likely using CAN but may not be.

That is a picture of a 2003 STR PCM. That's what he is working on so I wanted to put the correct picture up.

OK - it has more plastic than any of the others I've seen, including 2 from that year, but I guess it just unclips.

Hey, I can contribute to this! Woo Hoo.. The PCM in the picture has the header attached. The header provides the manufacturer multiple options to install a component across platforms.. IE a standard PCM Case in many different cars....

We sell tons of those darn things.....

Yes it allow read/writes to the PCM and I also have where the information resides and acceptable values.

First step for mine is to get some baseline pulls to see the AFR and start pulling/adding fuel and adjust timing.
