Thoughts on 2006 STR with 87k miles

the v6's range from $2000 to $12000nzd so big difference to an STR here!

Agree, do your research and check the car fax. I just purchased my 2006 S Type R from a local Jaguar dealership. My S Type R has 55,000 miles has been meticulously maintained and has an extended warranty. Good luck in your search.

The dealer was asking $12,995 for the vehicle.

Well the 03 looks really nice and appears to be well taken care of. However, the owner isn't willing to drop below $10k for the car, so that's not gonna happen when the KBB is $7800 in Excellent condition. I realize the KBB is a negotiable price to start at between buyer and seller, but I'm not about to be upside down in a car from day one. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the price seems high based on what I've seen so far.

Yes, that seems a little high on the asking price. But if the owner is no hurry to sell, they more than likely sell it to somebody willing to pay that price that just has to have that car! Keep on looking there are plenty of them out there and if you are willing to travel a couple of hundred miles you will have more to choose from.

I am considering selling my personal car.sSlver black 2006 model with 100k toons of maintenance
100k service done at 98k including spark plugs fresh coolant
oil has been changed with in every 5k since new
FULL rehose every coolant hose water valve and supercharger coolant pump t stat replaced at 88k
i just rebuilt the gearbox replaced all work selves internally the clutched never fail on the 6hp so i reused them and put a ZF valve body pan and connector steve @ 98k used the correct fluid also
front suspension,ball joints control upper and lower arms sway bar link swaybar bushings all new outer tiers are new rear shock bushings rear toe rods all new either factory jaguar parts or Lemforter
bluetooth,ACM and voice module
Dana diff update done at 77k
all blend actuators are updated
both motor mounts replaced
new alternator done at 90k
has the belt and tensioner update done at 40k includes the updated supercharger pulley and belt
brake pads and rotors done at 88k
thats just from memory will get exact time and millage..been thinking of letting it go so i figured i would reach out
probably the best overall example of a S type R since all the costly items have been sorted out

Very nice car! Hope you get your price. My 2005 STR 119K miles and everything fixed and working (DCCV, plugs, Lower mile blower, Under SC hose, All hoses, AUX and intercooler pumps, Transfluid and sleeve replaced, Zero rust southern car but no BT or voice) I was offered $3K trade in.

But what is the DANA Rear diff upgrade?

Its an updated differential that was a conversion with updated driveshaft axels and differential

Jaguar had trouble with the previous maker so changed maker, but the new ones were not compatible thus the other changes. A nightmare if anyone's older diff fails!

I just sold mine 05 S type R. 05 STR are so rare. its the first year of minor redesign and the last year of Brembo brakes. good luck!

Default Jag Effect

All interesting and mostly valid points, IMHO. However..........there is one thing you get with an STR that is PRICELESS - what my wife calls the Jag Effect! We have the car at our place in Scottsdale (yeah go ahead with the jokes) and she is there much more than I am (one of has to work) so she has this recurring experience..........once or twice a month someone goes out of their way to acknowledge the car. Now maybe it's because its unusual to see a not so young anymore lady driving a real drivers car or maybe it's because it is exotic/rare even there. I had the experience once, much younger lady acknowledged me/it one morning as we were both exiting for a conference. She was in a black on black later model MB CLS550, so assume she was a bit of a gear head as well (and I rarely appeal to those of her age bracket, so figure it wasn't me!) or at least appreciated a fine automobile.

BTW - this does not happen with the A6, the allroad or the TT before that was disposed of. Well, the allroad once but again a very unique ride. Similar story in Albuquerque for the Jag but more for the allroad in Santa Fe.

So to end this - if you are looking to go incognito, don't buy anything with the leaper on the hood and the "R" on the side!
