You have to remove the oil cap to get the engine plastic off to take the pic.

It's not distance, it's whether you've done the things stated in the PDF.

Post the unset monitors if you do the things in the PDF. They can be clues to what's wrong but only if you've actually done the right things of course.

Sorry jagv8 didn't know what you were getting at, this car has me frustrated.

Anyways I started it up with the engine cold held the gas @ 3,000 rpms for 30 seconds and it still didn't go to po1111. I tried this twice.

Achy, i had the exact same problem on my STR bro.. i was driving with RP for almost 2 weeks.. it drove me crazy!! i finally made some time to take it to my unlce for a vacuum leak inspection and 100k tune up. he sprayed almost the whole damn engine bay looking for the leak and not the slightest change in engine idle occured.. however, my air filter and fuel filter were both so dirty one would think they werent ever changed in my car's 101k mile life.!He installed a new K&N, new fuel filter, oil filter, spark plugs.. the works. my uncle also cleaned the MAF sensor, which in his opinion, due to such a dirty air filter, was the reason for the lean codes.. its been a week now. NO check engine light. NO codes. NO RP!!! my car feels brand new..
Maybe its time for a tune-up?? if not.. - air filter, - fuel filter, - fuel cap,.. i would check any and all of those first before dishing out any money on anything TB related.. just my .02 cents.. Goodluck!!

I think you're reading posts too quickly and then reacting. In your haste you're missing what the posts actually say.

Short of jag's TOPIx, best place to get info on codes or indeed the rest of the car is JTIS.

Yeah the plastic cover was off when I was looking for vac leak. The reason the oil cap was off in the pics was I had put the cover back on but decided I was gonna post a pic so I hurried and took the cover back off for the pic and just left the cap off during the pics.

Update I took the car out for a 200 mile run yesterday. The restried preformance nevr came on once, when is unual cos it has been staying on all the tim e pretty much. After the drive I checked the codes and the po171 was gone so I think this is why the restricted preformance was of. The po174 was on along with a po430. Are these 2 related?
Also I was remembered one of the end tabs that hold the air filter lid on is broke off. I don't think this is a problem but I went ahead and bout another air filter box ($65 off ebay with a extra MAF with it).Just nee to wait for it to get here.

Just curious if those 2 codes showing now are related?

Just look them up in JTIS or the codes PDF in the FAQs

But note that they are zeros not ohs (0 not o)

Thanks, I did look them up as best as I could get from it is that maybe the P0174 might be exhaust related. So maybe they are related I just wondered if anyone else has any experience with these 2 codes together.

Also No matter what I do I can't get it to go into p0111

Well I think I finally have a solid clue as to what it is. The throttle body! Here is why I think so... I never knew cleaning cleaning a jags throttle body was any different than any other car. So when I was giving the MAF sensor a good cleaning I got out the throttle body cleaner and went to town I sprayed it inside the throttle body and used a clean cloth to wipe it out... After thinking about it I realized this was when the p0171 codes started. then after reading tons of stuff I read you shouldn't clean them this way!

ANYWAYS I went ahead anf found for a good one with 50,000 miles on it for $90 so I grabbed it up.. Will keep you updated if this is it.

Still the wrong code. P1111. Not p0111. It matters.

Jag do say not to clean them. Some people here have done it and been OK.

Update engine light has been off since yesterday morning...I went ahead a checked the codes. It shows p0174,p1111.

Now that it is in p1111 what should I look for?

update yet again
I went out to hook up laptop to it started car engine light and restricted preformance again. I ran code I got
p0171
p0174
p1111

The P1111 is good news as it shows you don't have something more serious than just the other code.

The other is best looked up as I said because that gives you all the answers right from jag themselves. When you've done that, use Search on here to see what others found/did.

hopefully final update.

I put my new throttle body on today and drove her around awhile,so far no sign of p0171 or p0174. This is great news since it would throw the code before just about as soon as I would start it.

I am going to run it more and do some test, but keep my fingers crossed that the throttle body was the problem child!
