Default Tires slashed

Last night some ******* slashed all four Mitchelin Pilot Sports. The insurance company is doing a vandalism claim ($500 deductible with depreciation). Considering staying with Mitchelin but will consider suggestions for another brand. Prefer an affordable performance street tire. Any suggestions would be apreciated.

Wink tires...

Good thing they slashed all of them, otherwise you wouldn't have reached that deductible.....

Thanks Will and Mike. I'll look into a set of Continentals. These were stock.

Sorry to hear of this. I know this kind of malicious activity always feels like a personal violation.

I really like the Yokohama YK580 tires that I put on my wife's XK8. Available only at Discount Tire (and with a great treadwear warranty). Check 'em out....

Where was your STR parked when this happened? Hopefully not in your own driveway....

I really liked the DW that I had on my car. Very quiet and handled well. Once the Nitto 555s wear out that is what I plan on going back to.

Sorry to hear this, and even with your insurance you will still be out of pocket $500 + mucking about expenses.

I feel your pain, bfsgross, a horrible discovery. Just what you needed for Christmas.

I am very happy with my Michelin Pilot Sports and would not switch. Maybe the insurance could be persuaded to throw in an alignment?

Thanks all for your condolences of my Mitchelin Pilot Sports. We had so many good experiences together, such as when we (imagine day dreaming) took out the 425 chp Camaro SS, 2003 BMW M5 (400 chp), Dodge Charger SRT8 (400 chp), etc. at the lights and highway blasts.... Though some have given suggestions for brands, I'm leaning towards another set of Mitchelin Pilot Sports. They've recieved one of the highest ratings for performance, low noise, and tread life.
Jon89, she was parked behind my office (doctor). Happened sometime between 5 and 6:30 PM. A well lit, security camera Hess station is next door. The police will check their cameras for a hint. We believe the perpetrator is the brother of a former patient (a 30 y.o. emotionally disturbed lady who was a teacher). She recently (nearly 3 months ago) lost to me in court for failing to turn over insurance checks intended for me. Afterwards he ran outside of the court to my office manager and myself, and said he's going to break my neck at my office the next day. He's approx. 40 y.o., steroid bodybuilder and ownes a gym a few towns north. A month ago, a detective called him , warning to stay away from us. He did advize having him not calling due to aggression from steroid use. Was he ever right? Should've let the sleeping dog lie. Otherwise, the ins. adjuster just called and he's checking my policy before proceeding to fit new tires (approx. $1400 plus tax from Tirerack.com plus installation = $1700 +-

Let us know what the Hess security cameras show....

Don't allow this clown to get away with damaging your car. Prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, including full reimbursement to your insurance company (and you for your deductible) for the new tires, plus damages, plus court costs. I would also push hard for some jail time....

Sounds like a real upstanding family you've been dealing with there....

That does suck! I've had that happen before, but never turned to hurting someone physically over it since it's only money. You should absolutely get Pilot Super Sport's again...they are awesome and the only tire I will run on the car

Sorry to read this Seth.

Bright side, new booties (possible Pilot Sports) $500.00, not to bad.

Damn, sorry to hear what happened, sounds like your suspicions are founded though.

Earlier this year, I had parked my car at work in the morning, when someone pry off my R badge from the trunk and left a nice gouge in the paint while they were at it.
This just DAYS after upgrading all the badges with oem XF 'R' too!

Damn vandals!

Seth, really sorry to hear about your troubles from some small minded and pathetic individual no doubt.

I know you'll still be out of pocket but new tyres all round especially at this time of year isn't a bad thing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the security cameras show something and you can go after him to get your out of pocket expenses reimbursed.

All my best mate

Thanks Jim and all. Mechanic ordered the Mitchelin Pilot Super Sport (max summer). Fronts were $260/each, rear: $320/each. Mechanic beat tirerack.com price, plus no shipping. These I preferred over all seasons due to their less aggressive tread pattern which lends to a quieter tire and more contact.

I am sorry that you have been fallen by such misfortune. But it could have been worse.

A few years back, a woman I was dating, didn't have her tires slashed, no, all four wheels were stolen, and the car was not left up on blocks, but flat on the pavement.

Guess who got to rectify the situation?

She only had liability, so no insurance involvement. We spent the day shopping for alloy wheels and tires. I helped her get a good deal and installed the wheels for her. I am amazed that my floor jack would still fit under the car in the wheel wells. When it was all said and done, the car looked great and the cost was about $700.

This was a good number of years ago, and the car was a civic. Damn, those wheels were a perfect match to the car.

Maybe you too can make some lemonade from those lemons.

Thanks for your support. Guess one glass of lemonade made is going back to a 285 (stock is 275) series rear tire.

Ouch...sorry to hear about that. I remember someone used to purposely scratch our BMW back in the day. Crazy.

I also have those Michelin's....pretty good tires.
