Tires slashed

Thanks again guys. Tomorrow the tires will be installed. On an entirely different note and a deliberate attack upon this sorrowful thread...we soon may have an LSD for our S-Types! Check the old Lincoln LS LSD thread. The past few days i've developed a relationship between our S-Types and Drive Train Specialits (DTS, Michigan). We'll be sending our carriers for a LSD conversion ($850: parts and labor). No more one patch burnouts. We'll have both a greater ability to launch and greater control on the twisties. Merry X-Mas and Happy Holidays to all to my S-Type brothers and sisters!

SEth, very sorry to learn of this. From your description of this guy, he very easily could have keyed your car. You may want to personally check the security cameras after the cops are done just to make sure they're in good working order.
Here's a couple of links that may be of interest:
The first has some fun self defense goodies if you catch him in the act.
The second has lots of security cameras for additional security (backup) for your own use.

That sucks the big one. This is one of the reasons I don't drive my Jag if its going to be parked outside unattended for any amount of time. Glad its getting straightened out; I would recommend my Bridegestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Positions, but it looks like you've got another set of Michelins going on.

OMG
Screw the tires it sounds like it could get a lot worse if that's who did this. Don't press charges. Is it possible for the police to investigate but not talk to him? Document this stuff.
I hate to suggest this to you but do you have a CCW permit?
My wife had a stalker for several years unbeknownst to me for several of those years. It never got physically dangerous but it got very bizarre none the less.
It's a nutty world out there.

Thanks all for your condolences of my Mitchelin Pilot Sports. We had so many good experiences together, such as when we (imagine day dreaming) took out the 425 chp Camaro SS, 2003 BMW M5 (400 chp), Dodge Charger SRT8 (400 chp), etc. at the lights and highway blasts.... Though some have given suggestions for brands, I'm leaning towards another set of Mitchelin Pilot Sports. They've recieved one of the highest ratings for performance, low noise, and tread life.
Jon89, she was parked behind my office (doctor). Happened sometime between 5 and 6:30 PM. A well lit, security camera Hess station is next door. The police will check their cameras for a hint. We believe the perpetrator is the brother of a former patient (a 30 y.o. emotionally disturbed lady who was a teacher). She recently (nearly 3 months ago) lost to me in court for failing to turn over insurance checks intended for me. Afterwards he ran outside of the court to my office manager and myself, and said he's going to break my neck at my office the next day. He's approx. 40 y.o., steroid bodybuilder and ownes a gym a few towns north. A month ago, a detective called him , warning to stay away from us. He did advize having him not calling due to aggression from steroid use. Was he ever right? Should've let the sleeping dog lie. Otherwise, the ins. adjuster just called and he's checking my policy before proceeding to fit new tires (approx. $1400 plus tax from Tirerack.com plus installation = $1700 +-

Bob, that had to be a freaky-scary issue for you and your wife. Sorry it happened. I have a full carry permit. Gave my 9mm to my brother due to my four young and curious kids. Risky carrying due to my profession... Don't want to risk my doctors license. Perhaps I'll dig out the pair of chinese throwing stars I made as a kid? Or put the perp into a chinese finger lock? LOL!

Last night some ******* slashed all four Mitchelin Pilot Sports. The insurance company is doing a vandalism claim ($500 deductible with depreciation). Considering staying with Mitchelin but will consider suggestions for another brand. Prefer an affordable performance street tire. Any suggestions would be apreciated.
Anyway, being in NY you have similar issues to me when it comes to weather. I have had several sets over the years (Dunlop, Michelin, Continental, etc) what I have found to be the best all around tire for noise, performance, ride and that all important all season traction... Drum roll please...
Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position RE090 was the best tire hands down for me but they are not cheap my last set were about $330 each but well worth it!
Sorry to hear about the vandalism glad the insurance is stepping up though!

Maybe one of these days we can catch up for a coffee or something. I still cover New York from time to time so there is a chance I may end up rolling through your neck of the woods sometine in 2013!

Thanks cbharley. Figured some of us will hook up one day, toss down a few and chat. Please let me know when you're in NYC and counties above (live in Dutchess County). The 03 STR now wears Mitchelin Pilot Super Sports (Max Summer). These have a mellow tread pattern, making for a quiet ride. 285's in the rear. They're wide on and off the wheel (no rub). Today passed by a Corvette at a Chevy dealership. These tires are wider than a new stock Vette. We'll have a LSD soon and these will help. Merry X-Mas to you and all too.

382.76 for depreciation? WTH is that? Sounds like someone might need to mention small claims court. Who is this insurance company? I want to make sure I don't have a policy with them.

heima, ditto on depreciation sucks. It's basically an insurance industry standard. Take damaged roof tiles. If they have a 25 year life, and they were installed 10 years ago, the insurance company builds in a 30% depreciation as a means to level the playing field for them. So if a square of tiles costs $100, they take off 30% of this for every year they're on your roof.
