Top Dead Centre - V8
Have taken cam covers off 1999 s-type v8 t replace secondary tensioners and chains. Both off which look OK but engine has rattle when cold. Cam flats on LHS of motor are inline. RHS slightly out (see pics). Should they both sides be exactly in line, or could the timing be out (ie chain skipped a tooth-but chains are tight). I am getting the special locking tools for both cams etc. so I want to be sure I am locking them in the right position for TDC. I am also getting the locking plug that goes in the cam position hole, so will it all line up if at TDC?
